| ryanfolty (104), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | February 12, 2012 Checked this place out today after hitting up Town Hall for barrel aged week tickets. Great spot to go for some decent brews. Not sure who entered the bar information, but sign out front said open at 11 AM and I counted at least 35 taps. Offered flights of anything on tap, 3 8 ounce pours for $10. Kids got the grilled cheese which I sampled and it was very good. Had home made ketchup that was very tasty. Service was dynamite, our server/bartender Ryan was awesome! After encountering the bad service at Town Hall, this was a nice change. | | BVery (227), Burnsville, Minnesota | | February 12, 2012 Great tap lineup and ridiculously good service! Love this place. | steeleliver (2), Minnesota does not count - explanation | | January 27, 2012 [ Updated April 15, 2012 ] During happy hour, republic is hard to to beat. $3 for any American made pours, and cheap food as well. Outside of happy hour it isn’t as good of a deal. Rotation is pretty good, although it could be a bit better. Food is excellent, and priced reasonably (yet again especially during happy hour).
If you go between 4 and 6, it’s pretty hard to beat. | MBrausen (9), Minnesota does not count - explanation | | January 12, 2012 The beer selection here is pretty good and offers a variety of styles. Sometimes lacks some of the tried and true beers I like to see, but still very good. The food here is just amazing. It would be hard to turn down anything on their menu. Burgers are top notch. However, the price is high. $8 for a 4" round smaller patty, comes with salad, fries are extra. Not something I would pay every day. Much better deal on Happy Hour ($5 burger). Well worth it then. Well improved interior since it was Sgt. Preston’s a year ago. Really like this place. | | porlopp (13), Minneapolis, Minnesota | | December 9, 2011 Definitely a step up from the former inhabitants. Their food is solid, and their beer selection is a step above average. They have great features regularly, and have had very limited availability kegs on more than one occasion. | | emeinz (25), Minnesota | | November 23, 2011 Very solid addition to the Minneapolis beer scene. This is a great bar with a good menu, with good selection with a good location. They always have a great combination of good imports as well as awesome local and domestic crafts. happy hour is awesome. $5 burgers as well as $3 fries/chips and guac. Also they have $3 domestic craft taps. You definitely cannot beat happy hour here. | | JK (163), Uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota | | August 29, 2011 [ Updated April 20, 2012 ] Visited on Saturday evening. Even as a college student, I did not like Sgt. Preston’s. I just never had a good time there. Republic is a big improvement. The beer selection is good and fairly priced, particularly the $10 sampler, where I chose 3 Belgian beers for 8 oz pours, La Trappe Quad, Tripel Karmeliet (please remind Milkmandan this is the world’s best tripel) and Kwak. Shared the fries, which were barely warm but otherwise very good and served with aoli, which I liked, and a doctored ketchup, which was not very good. Service was friendly enough, and you shouldn’t need help from the waitress in choosing your beer. Much nicer interior. There was a band, and the bar is dark and lit by candles, not a bad spot to take a lady. Republic has one of the best happy hour’s in the twin cities. I recommend the burger with proscuitto and egg. | | nsquishee (16), Richfield, Minnesota | | June 6, 2011 [ Updated May 19, 2012 ] This awesome new spot opened up in the spring 2011. They have a very cheap happy hour from 4-6 PM every day of the week which features $3 domestic beers (domestic = US craft beer, not macro). I had a full pint of Fulton Worthy Adversary Imperial Stout for $3....need I say more.
UPDATE: 5/19/2012- Republic now has more than 50 beers on |
