| Leighton (227), London, England | | January 28, 2012 This place is a good neighborhood option. There are AT LEAST 60 bottles, though I think a few more. The selection does not really include any rare, limited beers, but rather covers the core ranges of many great American (and a few international) breweries. Prices are slightly higher than some other beer shops but not egregious. Great selection of wine, cheese and other sundry. Not a destination beer shop by any means but probably a good off-premise option for the area. | | JoeMcPhee (398), Toronto, ON, Ontario | | July 15, 2010 Sure, it’s okay for a neighborhood stop, but with Pony Bar one block away, you don’t need to come here to drink good beer. The beer is fairly well kept in here, with most of it stored in deli case coolers but the selection is pretty small. It’s not as cheap as lots of other places in the city and although it’s nice enough, there’s not really a whole lot of reason to recommend it. | | BeerBelcher (134), Columbus, Ohio | | November 16, 2009 This store excited me. It really appealed to my gourmet side - there was artisanal bread, fancy cheese, and imported looking meats here - I thought this was my kind of place! So it shocked me that I walked out of this store empty handed. The beer selection was a little wanting, IMO. They had a pretty big cooler of bombers and single bottles, but very little that was of interest to an out of town visitor, like myself. I was looking for things I couldn’t get in the Midwest, and I found very little. Instead, it was sort of a who’s who of (relatively) popular imports...I almost left with a Schneiderweisse Hopfen Weisse (because I like this beer), but it was expensive and I can get that beer at home. There were a lot of choices like this...so I left empty handed. Two guys behind the counter watched me roam up and down the cooler, and then seemed to laugh as I left. I wouldn’t go back. | | jredmond (111), Manhattan, New York | | May 11, 2009 A good place to go to find some great beer. Actually got a Aventinus here and brown-bagged that shiz. Small store but decent stuff here. | | Pwn3d (61), Manhattan, New York | | May 6, 2009 [ Updated February 8, 2011 ] Beer and Cheese sign out front. Directly next to a wine store that looks the same. Respectable selection of craft brews. About 3 refridgerators full of different brews. All the easy to get classics plus a couple ones that I havent seen before. I got a southern tier cherry saison only days after its release. I would say this is the best spot in Hells Kitchen for bottled beer. Rerate 11/14/09: You are able to drink your beers right in the store in the nice cafe section in the back... They have recently added 8 taps too. |
