A long time ago the best place for beers in Oslo. It takes to long to order, and meny is filled with beers no longer available

The food is pretty good, but that’s about it! Oh, and you might see a Norwegian actor or two, if that is of interest. Staff is unfriendly and roll their eyes if you ask for beers on the menu that they don’t have - which seemed like most of them. Ended up with an Urquell after asking for five others, that were out of stock.

Gammelt erverdig sjenkested i Oslo sentrum men masse stemning. God mat og utrolig ølutvalg. Litt stive priser, men vel verdt et besøk i ny og ne.

Lorry’s is quite a special place in Oslo. Decorated in a classic "brown pub" colonial style, including stuffed animals, old oil canvas paintings, antiques and oriental artifacts of uncertain authenticity, this is a place that reeks of olden days style and atmosphere. The waiters are matching, in their old school black-and-white "garcon" costumes - even complete with matching 30’s haircuts. The food as well: with a few exceptions like (homemade) hamburgers, the menu is centered around traditional Norwegian and French/"Continental"-inspired cuisine and is fairly good. The waiters are not beer experts but probably know enough to impress non-beer geeks to a certain extent, at least. Prices are OK by Norwegian standards. The beers offered in the menu are fairly common, and many seem to be unavailable and merely showcased in the menu (a sign outside read 225 beers, but I doubt there are more than 100-150 in reality). Although they do have a far bigger selection than most Oslo restaurants (and a few Norwegian micros on tap) I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit Lorry’s for the beer alone. But if you don’t care all that much for rare ticks (or if you haven’t rated much of the general selection available on the Norwegian market) and want to experience a taste of "old Oslo", this is quite a nice place to drop by.

Weird, excentric and expensive place near the royal palace. Filo-french-norwegian food and a big selection of beers, way too much macros if you ask me. Avoid weekend nights when the place is full of over-age drunk people with money or pretending to have money. May be good for an afternoon stop by or a lunch when you are visiting the city.

Lorry claim to have 130 different beers. In real life they stock substantially less. A large percentage of their beers are generic light lagers as well. It is one of the nicer bars in Oslo, and their prices may be at the higher end of the obnoxiuosly stiff Norwegian pricelevel.

Pretty good selection of beer in the menu. They are bragging of more than 100 different beers (their website says 129), but usually lots of them are not available. (One time the some of the refrigerators were broken so the only had a few different.) The service varies from pretty good to bad. One time we actually had to ask three different people and wait for at least 20 minutes to be able to pay.

I’ve been there a couple of times, but never managed to fall in love with the place. They have a somewhat OK (but no excellent) beer menu, but tended not to find the beers I tried to order. The waiter didn’t seem to know much about their beers, but at least she tried hard to find the beers. For some mysterious reason, this place is famous for its beer selection. It might have been true a few years back when there were fewer pubs with a good selection. Maybe they acquired a good reputation among the trend-setting crowd that does not know much about beer, and the reputation stuck?

This is kind of a weird place. The restaurant has lots of character and history behind it, and it’s cluttered with all sorts of obviously important things, like a giant moosehead or a knight’s armour. The bar is at the back of the restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient. Food was excellent (but prices Norwegian, meaning high). Beer selection is fairly large, but not very interesting. Mainly beers from large brewers and nothing really rare. Worth a visit for the ambiance and the food (and you’ll get some decent beer as well, but maybe not a tick).
