64 Cheap supermarket in Limoilou. They do have a pretty impressive selection of beer and stock quantities of it, they don’t seem to run out very quickly. It’s not the best kept store I’ve been in but far from the worse. Prices seem quite reasonable, Good place to visit in the neighborhood. |
58 Pour la bière, pas pour le reste. |
70 Large place located in Limoilou (Québec). This is also a grocery store, but the only reason to go there is for beer. Service was non-existent the couple of time I got there (on week-end), but the cashiers are usually friendly. The guy in charge (never met him, but I saw him intervene on the web) looks knowledgeable. Pretty good selection. The main letdown is that they buy a ton of one product and let "sleep" on the shelves for too long (ex. Le Castor IPA is a really good beer, but they have so much of it that it last too long). Price are on the high side, but nothing prohibitive. One of the top-5 places in Québec City to buy beer. |
82 A very good selection of local beers and glasses. Their products are always kept at the right temperature, which is not the case of all our "best bottle shop" in Quebec. Prices are amongst the lowest in the city which makes it a must-go for me. |
92 Best place in town in terms of price. At least for the beers I have compared. They have a great selection, with a big walk-in fridge too. Most microbreweries from the Province of Quebec are there. My personal favorite place to buy beer. Also they have some meat/produce which can be handy. |
82 Located in Limoilou, and pretty much the only great beer place in that part of town. Looks more like a real small grocery store than a beer store, but once you’ve made it past the grocery part, you’ll know you’re in the right place. The guy that’s in charge of beer seems very knowledgeable, and ever since they rebuilt the beer store part, they seem to be coming up with beers that nobody else has in town (exclusives from Castor and Hopfenstark, at least for now). Prices are a bit higher than most other places in town, but I guess one has to be willing to pay for exclusives...What else? Well, you can get fairly good priced avocados in there, if you wanna make a good guacamole to go with your beer... |
54 Rather unlikely looking depanneur on 4th in Limoilou, but with an excellent beer selection for this part of the city. All Québec’s classics, Dieu du Ciel, Pit Caribou etc. All this in a fair sized corner tucked behind the much larger walk-in fridge stocked to the brim with your Coors Lights and your Big Tens.
It’s a massive dubious looking kind of store, but just march past all the crap and head straight to the beer corner. Selection seems to be expanding all the time, so maybe they’ll start getting in a few specials here and there. Definitely your best bet if you’re in lower town and you can’t be arsed with the trek to La Duchesse. |
