| bmerz (61), New York | | May 4, 2012 A near perfect beer establishment...what’s wrong with it...really nothing...i only didn’t give it a perfect score because at least somewhere has to be better right? In an old train depot it has atmosphere like no bear store i’ve been in. The ~6 seat bar allows you to drink some amazing NC and other (Epic Biscotti Break for me) stuff while you shop. The selection from all countries is extremely broad and deep more so than any store i can think of though others might have more rare (Healthy) or deep of a kind (Belgians at State Line) theirs is the most well rounded I can think of. Prices were very reasonable (at least for a New Yorker) and the staff so helpful in picking out rarer local stuff I wouldn’t have known about or can’t get distributed in NYC. They were generally interested and eager to talk beer And they gave a great restaurant rec (Pool’s around the corner. | | zizzybalubba (68), Elizabeth City, North Carolina | | April 19, 2012 I recently visited Tasty Beverage Co. and have to agree with anyone that proclaims this one of the finest beer stores anywhere. The setting is really cool at the Raleigh Depot in downtown Raleigh. The staff was friendly and greeted me soon after entering the store and offerred their help. The selection was incredible; I am sure that I walked through each rack at least 4 times just to take it all in. Prices were comparable to other stores I have visited in the area. Overall, one of the finest stores anywhere and certainly a must visit if you are in or near Raleigh. | | TURDFERGUSON (117), Carrboro, North Carolina | | April 6, 2012 Came here after dinner at the pit a few weeks ago. This is a really cool shop. Very well set up. They had a bar in the back with 5 or 6 taps and barstools and everything. They had 5 or 6 different Stilwater beers on tap Yes I will have one while I look around. Very friendly service. And the selection is quite good for NC. Maybe the best in NC. Rivals Sams and Brusin Ales in terms of selection. Had a good conversation with the two dudes there ( I think one of them was a owner) and hope to get together with them sometime to enjoy some brews. Fun store that I would definitely frequent if I lived closer. | | kassner (53), Wexford, Pennsylvania | | March 30, 2012 Well I don’t know what ambiance means for a bottle shop, but if so this place has it. All about the beer with a great selection. Very small unadorned bar with seating for 10, but also some tables. knowledgable and friendly and really sincere. Some very nice Saisons on tap with only there five taps. | | chrispratt (14), , | | March 3, 2012 I want to live here. Taps in the back, bottles in the front (and middle, and side, and coolers, and more in the back). Great selection. Great staff. Good prices. They are more than willing to offer samples of what is pouring, and seem to constantly be having tastings. Yum. I mean Tasty. | | emacgee (57), Carrboro, North Carolina | | February 20, 2012 Dropped in here to check things out. Very interesting layout and selection. Maximum surface area coverage. Very efficient and dense. Lots of Belgians and Scandinavian brews. Singles selection could be better since they don’t do split sixers. Overall great place, saw a lot of stuff I hadn’t seen in NC yet. | | Cybercat (93), Georgia | | December 27, 2011 When I walked in the door - HOLY GUACAMOLE, I just about had a beer-gasm! This store is totally devoted to beer. They have the brews divided up by country, as well as a special section for North Carolina beers. I went nuts snapping up stuff that you can’t get in Atlanta - at least not currently. The counter people were very helpful in pointing me towards the state’s best brews. The only drawback is they won’t break up six-packs, but that’s just their way. C’est la vie. This is a must if you visit Raleigh. Parking is adequate and free. | | planbee (35), North Carolina | | September 2, 2011 [ Updated February 6, 2012 ] This is a brand new shop in the Raleigh Depot. Lots of restaurants and shops around. Parking not an issue. The place needs some time for them to build its character, but it is nice, clean, and well-organized. They are still getting everything running. A fine selection that should become more interesting as the store is more established. They have plenty of space, cooled and uncooled, and 6 taps too. One of the guys saw me looking at a beer and immediately offered me a draft sample, along with another bonus sample. Good people, friendly vibe, huge (if unsurprising) selection and it’s in a great area. The best shop in Raleigh right now. | SkinsFanLarry (1), , does not count - explanation | | August 30, 2011 [ Updated September 1, 2011 ] This is the place to buy beer in Raleigh, NC!! Johnny & Sean are two great owners!
