| zizzybalubba (68), Elizabeth City, North Carolina | | May 17, 2012 Taphouse Grill is located in Downtown Seattle and has the appearance of being very upscale. From street level there is an entryway that takes you to the steps which lead to the restaurant and bar on the lower level. There is a long curved bar with well over 100 taps. While the ambiance is very nice and just a little intimidating at first at no time did I feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. I did not intend to eat there but the happy hour appetizer specials were too good of a deal to pass up. The selection of beers, while large, was very Yard House-like (mostly average selections but a few incredible ones if you search for them). While this is probably not the best bar in Seattle given the stunning number of choices, it is possibly the nicest “bar” I have been to. Worthwhile if you are limited to Downtown Seattle and a great choice for a meal, beer lover or not. | | Luu777 (12), California | | May 1, 2012 Nice place for a large taphouse. Not many rares but is definitely a place you will find something you like. Went there during IPA week...40 IPA’s! That was fun! | | BOLTZ7555 (56), Phoenix, Arizona | | January 1, 2012 Thought this was a pretty cool spot...under ground with a tap selection reminiscent of Yard House. Just stumbled upon it. Wall of taps and pretty upscale. Lots of beers but nothing terribly unique. Luckily, had some Fred on tap (oh to live in Seattle!) so had a pour of that. Cool spot and decent food...would stop by again when in town. | | OldGrowth (132), North Carolina | | September 18, 2011 once you wind your way down the staircase , it opens up into a pretty large area. Not sure what to call the motif, modern?
Main area with large sort of s shaped bar, bunch of tables, another room partitioned of by a glass wall. tow side rooms down the far end of bar, another room with a pool table and short bar, private function maybe, and another with 2 or 4 more pool tables that look like open to general public. Big selection of local, westcoast beer, larger distributed rest of the country craft brews. Food was goodwife got a 4 cheese grilled cheese sandwhich that was mighty good. kind of high priced, but it’s in the convention/downtown. Certainly a place to grab a few ratings. | | irishalky (13), Littleton, Massachusetts | | August 21, 2011 Decent number of choices available with 150+ beers on tap plus seasonal options, second week in August was IPA week with 30 additional IPAs. Large winding bar gets over crowded pretty easily. Waitresses are very knowledgeable but service suffers due to the sheer number of patrons. | | Apchron (10), Alabama | | February 17, 2011 A "beer bar" that boasts so many taps should not be proud to pour Bud Lite. Atmosphere was cramped and uppity. | | 3fourths (962), Boulder, Colorado | | February 16, 2011 underground. convention center area. convention center crowd. corporate. kill me now. selection is actually pretty good for an out of towner, i’ll give them that, but if i lived in seattle no way would i go here. | | Powertrip (11), Calgary, Alberta | | September 25, 2010 The only downside to this entire place was the slow service, despite the fact that the staff are all knowledgeable...but it WAS really slow. The place itself is fabulous, 160 taps!!!!!! all mouted on a wall lining the entire bar. Its a sight to see! Very modern, hip, spacious and in a basement setting that is anything but stuffy! | | WesKBob (20), Bethany, Oklahoma | | August 29, 2010 Walking in, the place looks a rather upscale, trendy type of place. The server didn’t go out of their way to help, but were knowledgeable and helpful when I asked about several of the locals with which I wasn’t familiar. Ran into a few things they were out of of, but I think that was more due to seasonal turnover (running out of summer stuff, and getting in the fall seasonals). The food was very good, particularly the seafood.
You’re certainly not going to mistake this for your corner watering hole, but I would recommend it it you’re in the area and looking for some new brews. | | jerc (211), Toronto, Ontario | | July 17, 2010 [ Updated July 18, 2010 ] 2008-07. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this place. The photos and some of what I read online made it seem like exactly the kind of place I would like to avoid usually. In a way it was about what I expected, very classy upscale decor, separate room with pool tables and big screens. The only indication of the snootiness I expected were the little waiting area stools. Server was super friendly, giving us some tourist tips and replacing a sampler after I knocked it over. Food looked pretty good, with some very good happy hour specials (that we were unfortunately too early for). We shared a Dungeness Crab Mac and Cheese which was awesome at the time, in hindsight I would have liked more cheese but it was good nonetheless. Tap list was extensive, with a lot of very good beers, but not really many amazing ones. It’s less cozy than some of the other local places, but for a visitor it is a pretty great place to try a bunch of local brews at once. |
