| edirvin2814 (10), , | | May 22, 2012 The porter I tried was good but Not too special, the food was good. | | Travlr (637), Washington, Washington DC | | May 20, 2012 I like the outdoor bar at thus place, although the inside is cozy too, and has a view of the brewing equipment. They have ten of their beets on tap and offer a complete sampler. But the beers are generally safe and unadventurous, appropriate, I guess, for a tourist location. So maybe you should also leave this one to the tourists.
| | pari6819 (40), Florida | | March 20, 2012 Over the years the Brewco has continued to grow and so has their ability to produce some exceptional beer. I love visiting this place especially on Thursdays when they have a cask conditioned offering. A couple months ago they were fresh hopping some of their pours. It just seems like there is always something new and exciting to try here. I appreciate that, and their food is pretty great too. | | weihenweizen (63), Charleston Area, West Virginia | | March 19, 2012 No close parking, but it was a sunday night, so we parking on the street a block away. We were seated quickly. Atmosphere was really good. Service was not good. I had to ask for water twice, our waitress would go to the table behind us, but not ask us if we needed anything. One of the times I asked for water, my wife’s glass was empty, but the waitress didn’t ask here if she wanted a refill. My bison burger was average, however the calamari appetizer was good and so was the blueberry bread pudding. It was a slow night, so I can find no real reason for poor service. Most of the beer was average. I recommend the sampler. | Nightsky (4), Wesley chapel, Florida does not count - explanation | | March 8, 2012 I’ll start with what I liked. I liked the beer cheese soup. The apple cobbler was some of the best I’ve had. The beer was nothing to really write home about. I would have been happier if the waitress showed up more than once every 20 minutes and when she did, asked me if I wanted a refill on my drink and not just my boyfriends. I felt like I had to work for what I wanted. It’s the middle of Ybor, nice durring the day, but not the best place at night. I probably wont come back. | | BrewDad (360), Olympia, Washington | | February 7, 2012 This had the feel of an old brick and mortar brewery. Very much an Old Rock Bottom feel. Loved the taps and great food. Was able to try some Cuban food and have a terrific sampler. A great place. | | WVHouseofBeer (30), Kissimmee, Florida | | July 5, 2011 This was a very good restaurant with solid beer offerings. The location is excellent and would be a regular hangout spot for me if I lived in Tampa. Bartender was friendly and attentive and never left me thirsty. They had 8 of their beers on tap I think plus several other microbrews. The food is standard pubfare but is definitely tasty. Prices are about average. Their beer isn’t as good as Cigar City’s but their location and the fact that they serve food definitely makes this a great place to visit. | | fata2683 (125), Tucson, Arizona | | June 18, 2011 visited during RBWG 10’ Great location right in the middle of Ybor, great good and really nice beer as well. They were brewing while we were there and were not shy about talking beer. | | Capa (172), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | April 26, 2011 I only had time to stop at one Tampa area brewery and decided Cigar City would be it. They closed more than two hours earlier than I was told on the phone, so I ended up here and was pleasantly surprised. I started with the sampler, which was their entire normal lineup and a couple seasonals (smoked IPA and ESB). Beers were nice up and down the lineup. After the sampler I went with another pint of their Porter and the Iron Rat Aristocrat Stout. My girlfriend and I split a pizza and had their pretzels and both were tasty. She was the DD so had a couple of their tasty house-made root beers. It was a quiet Easter evening when we stopped in so I can’t really give much info on the feel of the place when at normal capacity. Waiter was friendly, fairly knowledgeable, and quick with his service. I’ll go back next time I’m in the area. | | beastiefan2k (141), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas | | March 27, 2011 Stopped by on a weekday afternoon, its perfectly placed in Ybor. Got the outdoor seating, which was great. Server was great, talked beer a little but not in the fake "this is what they teach me to say." Got the sampler and a pint afterward. Great amount of taps and everything was flawless (except the horribly sweet barleywine). The beer was very well made, great hoppy beers, a seasonal Black IPA, a cask IPA, the regulars were all good. The Blond was clean, fresh, and awesome. There is an 8% stout in there that was nice as well. Did not eat but the food looked like standard brewpub fare, they were brewing that day, which was nice to smell. |
