| stoneageradio (17), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | January 14, 2012 Huge selection, best in Pittsburgh, but the prices were a bit higher than Giant Eagle (which I’m discovering is the norm for bottle shops - I suppose GE has the lock on prices).
The food was wings and dogs, nothing special but well done. The staff was great. Experts.
Overall, a great joint. | pghbeerlover (4), Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | October 31, 2011 I stopped for a sixer when in Wexford the other day. Good selection and very friendly staff that seemed well educated about beer. I didnt try any food so I cant comment on the menu or food. The beer seemed a bit pricey but I guess they think they can get it in the area. Overall it was a very nice visit and I am pleased with my 6 pack purchase. | | kassner (53), Wexford, Pennsylvania | | February 11, 2011 Really nice selection on Tap, and half glasses, so try a new beer while you shop. Samplers coming. It is growing a beer stop. | | Zax (10), | | February 7, 2011 [ Updated April 8, 2011 ] Note: this 6-pack shop is changing its name to 1 for the Road. It has a really nice selection - arranged easily and conveniently. There is a lot here to sample, and the owners offer tastings on Thursday evenings (which is a zoo I try to avoid). They recently put in taps - so you can get a draft beer or a growler to go (bring your own), adding to the options. The hot dogs are pretty good too. Patio? Yes, technically, but it looks out a parking lot and a busy roadway. | tgenenbacher (2), Lenexa, Kansas does not count - explanation | | November 26, 2010 great service, decent prices, worth stopping by if you are looking for a nice selection of craft beers. | | MaltOMeal (24), Land of Sugar, Texas | | July 21, 2010 Stopped in here as I couldn’t find anything else in the area comparable. This is just a small beer store in a strip center, but they sell six-packs! Their loophole here in the case law was that they have a small hot dog counter at one end. Besides having shelves with six packs, they have a cold case with bombers and more with 120z singles to let you mix and match your own sixer. Great! Prices are higher than here in TX, but better than at other restaurants in PA that I visited. Very decent selection. | | HopInMeBeer (11), Pennsylvania | | July 12, 2010 A hole in the wall store in the middle of a shopping center.
I had a dog and some Founders Cerise. It was good.
It’s like a 7/11 but for craft beer. Door-cooler along one wall and aisles of craft brews. Southern Tier - Stone - Founders - great textbook selection. | | Beerman6686 (24), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | May 18, 2010 Ambiance is a wide open area, with small tables along the sides, but nothing unique at all. Service is great, Youger owner is a super nice guy, very helpful and was willing to call several distributors to find me a case of hopslam. Selection, is very large, always getting in the newest sessionals, but lacking any sours basically at all. Food is just light bar food, hot dogs and nachos, but quality hot dogs if thats what you looking for. Vlaue is good due to the rarity of some of the things, but a bit on the pricey side. Overall a great selection with a very helpful staff, but not a place to stay and drink. | | yinzerbeernut (15), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | February 12, 2010 [ Updated February 13, 2012 ] Stopped in for the first time after being in the area. I have had plenty of friends tell me about this place. I first took notice of the organization of the shelves and coolers. Everything is clearly marked and there is no question to what is the cost of a particular beer. It is very clean and the gentleman that was working was willing to help and very knowledgeable. I grabbed a mixed 6 pack to go and paid pretty much the Pittsburgh market rate. They were running several promotions and have a solid selection of seasonal beers. | | Acetobacter (46), Pennsylvania | | November 21, 2009 Stopped here with some friends who live in the area and are regulars. The selection is very very good. A nice combination of good British/European names, hard-to-find Continental stuff, and craft stuff that is both common in the the area, as well as less so. They also serve some basic pub food, but this wasn’t really why I was there. While the selection is really good, the prices can hit you pretty hard. They are definitely not the sort of rip off that the Sharp Edge is (in the city of Pittsburgh), but they are a bit high. However, given the fact that many of the beers are relatively strong and rare, the prices aren’t outlandish. Overall, a nice refreshing change to the soulless cesspit that is Wexford, PA; and certainly worth stopping by. |
