70 A pub verging on the idiosyncratic, mellow ambience, enthusiastic woman behind the bar. Three cask ales available, my pint of Dartmoor's Dragons Breath was fine and served in a quirky glass. Recommended. |
70 Lovely little pub, with a friendly and cosy atmosphere. Always seems pretty chilled out. Love the dimmed lighting, a place where I can take lady aswell as have a session with the boys.
You can usually pick up a few summerskills ales, which is always decent. The pub has an exclusive pale in honour of the pub dog, Mr Jones. So that's a lovely touch.
It's a smallish beer selection but lots of quality including cask ales and taps with even a belgian beer and a LOAD of single malt whiskies and bourbons. Always handy.
It's a place that is always in my mind when I am out and about having a few pints. Lovely pub. |
64 Popular pub between the Barbican and The Citadel areas, up a pretty steep hill on a little side street. Run by a couple of ladies, Mother & Daughter?. Smart and comfortable although the fairy lighted area is a bit naff. Popular for food by the looks. Summerskills brewery seem to have a permanent presence here. Worth the effort. |
60 A divided back-street pub close to the citadel. A lot of rooms. Many of them reserved for the popular Sunday roast. 3 ales on cask. 8 kegged. |
58 Reopened as a freehouse in late 2014, this pub has a beautiful location in a narrow back street close to the Royal Citadel. In fact, the outdoor surroundings look like a Greek Taverna scenery including nice floral decorations. Very lunch time busy when we visit the pub early on a Sunday afternoon. One eating section and a drinking section in front of the bar. The pub dog, Mr Jones, had his own cask ale made by Summerskills. Altogether three cask ales on offer. Friendly service in a cozy atmosphere (Visited with Finn, 25.09.2016). |
70 Classic interior, open fire, very cozy. Solid but small beer selection, including one cask. Great food. Nice place. |
