Quaint little wine bar/bistro with a warm feeling, if not a little on the hipster side. Service was friendly and quick, but I did not get a whole lot out of her on the beer sie, but it looks like at least someone that works there knows what they are talking about. It was all Bell’s on tap for a "Bell’s Bowl", including Hopslam and Black Note, but the bottle list was impressive on its own, thought out and put together well. Did not try the food, will have to some other time. About what you expect to pay for beer at a place in that area of town. Definitely worth a stop.

Yet one more coffee shop with Hopslam on tap! What on earth is going on in Hotlanta?? More like Hoplanta I guess. Actually, this place is more like a bar than a coffee shop, although people certainly do bring their laptops or curl up with a good book and a caffeinated beverage. Instead, I chose two Westbrooks I hadn’t had before, even though I was at the brewery just a few weeks ago. Food was tasty, but very limited menu. Nice place.

I enjoyed my first evening in Aromas, helpfull staff pretty good line up of beers as well, they had a Westbrook Tap Takeover and the beers were awesome, I didn’t eat but the food looked good, mostly appetizers I saw. I will be back!!

Well, my rating may be slightly skewed to the good considering the only time I have been there was when they had Bells Bowl with Black Note, Hopslam, 09 Expedition, Oracle, etc, etc on tap. The place was nicely decorated and had a laid back feel. Loved the apps we got. I would assume since the where one few chosen to share a keg of Black Note that this place normally has a great selection. Plus, the owner of the place also owns five points bottle shop across the street, they also had some large format bottles at a nice price. Would certainly visit in conjunction with Trapeeze next time coming to Athens.

Other than the beers, I enjoyed the atmosphere the most. The vibe is very chill, but not stuffy. Very nice decor, and a patio which is nice for this time of year. The beer quality and selection is very nice. I enjoyed beers from Dogfish head (chicory stout), Allagash (FOUR), Brooklyn (EIPA), and Smaltz (Blockhead). I think it is a fairly eclectic selection on draft and bottles. They had all but the first Terrapin side project in bottles plus many others. Nothing on cask this time, but I believe they have a fair amount of special cask appearances. The service was excellent. Our waiter was not only friendly, but also helpful and knowledgeable about their selection. We also had a cheese platter which was ok. Overall is was a good experience and I will return.

Nice place in the 5-points area of Athens, a stone throw from 5points liquor and under same management. The inside is peaceful and quiet, some wooden tables and sofas add to a nice decoration. Not really a beer pub atmosphere, a more serene place where you can carry conversation or relax and read a book. I liked the place a lot, and their beer list really doesn’t conflict with what Trappeze has on tap as most of the beers were different in both places. Nice selection of small platters and cheeses (though a little overpriced). Plenty of beers to chose from as well as wines.

Aromas is just a short drive away from the downtown area. They had 5 taps devoted to craft beer and two medium sized coolers with a reasonable selection. Overall, I’d say the beer menu is better than any place I’ve seen in Athens except, of course, for Trappeze Pub. The food is limited to olives and cheese. A fine selection of coffee, tea, wine, and whisky is also available. This place is dimly lit and has definite coffee shop ambiance. At 4:30 pm on a Tuesday, it was nearly empty, occupied only by our party and two fellows in suits. It’s a nice, sophisticated place to get a beer.

Nice spot in a nice & busy area of town. What they have on tap is good, often a mix of belgians, local micro, and other micros. Bottle selection is pretty decent as well. Casks on occasion. They also have a few apppetizers and decent deserts. Atmosphere is nice, rarely crowded. Next to Trappeze, it’s probably #2 for good beer in Athens.**** Tap list continues to improve and many more cask events. Great place away from downtown.

Only drawback here is the selection. With only one taphandle, you’re kind of limited, but w/ Oskar Blues Ten Fidy w/ Cheeries as your only tap, who cares about selection. Nice quiet place in a college town filled w/ loud, B/M/C bars. Tell Sachin or Christie that Jimbo sent you.

RE-RATE 6/8/2007 - Why doesn’t RB update the date? Atmosphere is nice - sometimes I feel slightly underdressed in a t-shirt and jeans, but I never let it bother me. ;) There’s a section of couches and chairs with a fake fireplace as well as standard seating and a bar. It’s a very nice and laid back atmosphere. Service is pretty relaxed, but nice. I think they try not to be pushy. My glass usually stays full, but sometimes it does take a little while to get the check, etc. Selection is even better now that they’ve upgraded from 1 to 5 taps. Right now they have Terrapin IBA, Urthel HopIt, North Coast Old Stock and Scrimshaw, and Rogue I2PA. Taps always rotate and several gems have found their way here including casks from Jolly Pumpkin and Clipper City and kegs of Oskar Blues Ten Fidy with Cherries and other goodies. There is a good selection of bottles, if the current tap doesn’t excite you (note: their website poorly represents the actual selection). They do tap a firkin occasionally. Call to check when they’ll have their next one. Food is light tapas only - don’t come expecting to be filled up. Pricing is fair - sometimes a little pricey depending on the beer. Overall a great stop while in Athens - especially if you’re bringing a wine drinker along. Currently, this is the place where you’ll find the best beer in Athens.
