84 Tadg and his bar are the best! Just wish they opened earlier. Great comfortable place to hang out and drink good beer. |
76 A great ’local’. A hodge lodge organized disaster bar with a great view. Service was friendly but spotty as we were not regulars who were all hanging out with staff. Food is English fare and ver good if that is what you are looking for. Beer selection is good and prices are average for Japan. |
80 Great staff amd owners, always a welcoming atmosphere. Constantly cjanging menu, though always high quality. Very high standard of food. |
76 As Tadg’s says they are the home of craft beer in Kyoto. The location is convenient, the view is great and Tadg\s one of the nicest pub owners in Kansai. They have a constantly changing line up of beers on tap featuring a good mix of Japanese, American and European. Recently, they’ve had beer events every other month which are great and definitely worth checking out. The food is good and the portions pretty generous, the staff are friendly and they always have someone who speaks English on hand. There’s also a book exchange and frequent live entertainment. If you like good beer and are in Kyoto this is a place you should check Tag’s out. |
78 Great food from pub grub to fine dining at reasonable prices. Amazing view of the Kamo River and Eastern Kyoto. Best draught selection in Kyoto. Usually micro-beers from Outsider, Baird, Isekadoya, Rogue, Epic, and and couple other American or Scandinavian ales on tap, along with a few majors. |
76 I really can’t get why people bash this place just because it is an Irish pub. I guess if they called it Johnny Rockers All Craft Beer Bar with the same atmosphere, same food and same beer, it would get much higher ratings. Why can’t people just rate a bar for the merit of the bar? OK, rant over.
Spacious, but cozy place on the 8th floor with a moderately good view of the river and central Kyoto. Seemed to have about 15 taps of domestic and import craft beers that were well thought out. Food was fantastic (Ruben Sandwich), but service to get food was slow - though I was grooving on the beers, so I didn’t mind too much. Staff were attentive to serve beer and spoke some English. I liked how you could choose 240ml, 330ml or 470ml servings. Prices were in line with Tokyo prices - though maybe a bit high for Kyoto. Friendly owner. Good vibe. This is a must stop for any visitor to Kyoto and only five min walk best Sake pub in Kyoto. |
58 Ok beer selection, pleasant service but almost no costumers, the bartender was friendly. But again "just" an english style bar, without japanese any costumers, why ?? |
68 Great view of Eastern Kyoto. Beer list features J-Beer from Baird, Shiga Kogen & Ise Kadoya. The other taps are US influenced. The draught beers all poured with excessive foam so there was a lot of faffing about decanting first into a jug then into the glass. So it can take a while before you get your beer. I had the burger which was pretty good. Prices are reasonable. Nice choice in town for beer. |
72 Visited on 09.09.2011 Rather easy to find – just follow the smaller river by walking the street closest to the big river. It is mentioned in the signs of the big building. Nice, english‐speaking staff and nice view, decent selection of mostly American and Japanese beer with some rarities too. An british‐irish feeling on this pub but something is missing still. Hamburgers were good also. |
64 This rating may seem low thats becasue I’m ranking it against other pubs I’ve been to. But compared to most that I’ve seen in Japan it would be a 90 or 100. This is the best bar in Kyoto for Craft beers. It may be the only pub in Kyoto for Japnanese Craft beers. |
