Not a beer destination!

This was probably added by accident, but they do not have craft beer and when I was there they did not even have pale lager type imports from Ghana. They had a few Africa ticks, but not worth going here for. The food, though, was good and the portions enormous. Ambiance is outdated, stingy, awkward. Pretty slow service even though I was the only person in here during fairly normal hours. Cannot recommend this place. Not super cheap either.

I have to state up front that Bierkrug entered this one, and this shows the weakness of entering places solely based on their internet profiles, rather than a personal visit. This place has never had Zambezi, Red Stripe, Castle, Club, Guinness, Siear Nevada, or any other West African beers except a handful from Ghana. Those are Gulder, Club, Star, Castel Milk Stout, and Tusker from Kenya. That said, manager Anthony Opare has built a solid restaurant with genuine Ghanian food ranging from Jollof rice (obviously) to banku and fiufu. By far the best West African food in the district, and that alone is worth a visit. And the digs are classier than its former Adams Morgan location.
