72 Visited on Sunday 22/02/15, post RBWG weekender.
English style pub located at the end of a small strip mall, owned by an Englishman.
Inside you’ll find live English football (quite a few Liverpool fans when we visited) and a dartboard also! Small L shaped bar was dispensing 10 house beers on my visit, 4 of which were cask and all in good shape. Beers are brewed on premises out back.
Outside the pub is a Routemaster RML - a former London bus circa 1960 build.
This is used as a food cart and you pick up reasonably priced tasty food such as fish and chips or a ploughmans lunch and take it back inside the pub.
House beers were fine, no world beaters, but no horror stories. The cask mild was definately one of the best examples of this style I’ve had on this side of the pond.
Flights available in 4oz pours - you’re choice of numbers, no set flights or limits.
Not a go too destination if you’re time in the Tampa area is limited but definately worth popping in if in the area. |
80 A cool English pub in a little strip mall. This would be a cool place to have in my neighborhood. Friendly and helpful staff. The beers were all solid. |
78 Pretty typical English style neighborhood local, but since this is Tampa, it’s in a strip mall - which gives them the advantage of having plenty of parking. Food bus out front. Inside is cozy and lived-in, folks were mostly watching European football when I stopped by on a Sunday. Locals and staff alike were very friendly and welcoming. Tasty beers included some traditional English styles, three of them on handpump, and some Belgian styles. Flights available, any number of four ounce pours. Well worth a visit. |
72 really cool british pub feel out in the middle of nowhere. literally opened car door and a rooster crowed in the distance. everyone is super nice and laid back, definitely will have to go back again. |
90 Awesome local brewery which also serves wines. |
92 If you are looking for a cool English style pub in Tampa The Wild Rover is it. The family owned pub is clean and casual. The place just opened a couple month back so they are continuing to expand their selection of beers. For now the cask ESB is my favorite with the Russian Imperial Stout coming in a close second. The brew master Ricky is quite talented. I hear a collaboration is in the works with the finest producer of saisons in Tampa. They are saying it will likely be ready for beer week. I can’t wait to try it! |
