| TampaBrew (11), Tampa, Florida | | May 30, 2009 So glad this place moved out of the hallway spot in that crappy university mall. The new place is awesome. You can move around! 2 bars and a "beer" room so to speak where you can sit at long tables and just drink hofbrauhaus style. Always a great tap list and tons of bottles to go. Staff is for the most part beer knowledgeable. They host our local homebrew club meetings. Food is excellent and authentic german foods an great deli sandwiches. Parking will be bad on a busy night. But overall, excelent place to eat and drink. | | HOPSHUNTER (14), Tampa, Florida | | April 29, 2009 I used to like going to this place a lot as a kid when it was in University Square Mall. Now it’s about 2 min. from my house and I like it even better. Themed like a German Biergarten, really cool atmosphere to have a beer. I’m not sure I could go every night the German music would probably drive me nuts. Food is good and reasonably authentic and a good value. This is the type of place you need time to explore. In the back are deli-cases and assorted European chocolates and cookies. They also have a pretty nice bar with real decent selection of taps and coolers with assorted bottles, they even have a Randall which I was told they hook up on the weekends. Theres a section of the place (2 whole walls actually) that have beers you can buy and take home. Beer was good, food was good, music sucked. I’ll be back. Waited....Waited...Waited for service. First beer I ordered they were out of, but took 15 min to find that out. Server was confused and allowed me to order 2 more beers they didn’t have. Food was so-so. Plenty of selection if its actually there. My wife swears it used to be awesome when they were located in the mall. | | Sammy (237), Toronto, Ontario | | February 18, 2009 Bruce Downs, new location. This German style biergraden has tables to hang out, more formal tables, a lttle bar and private traditional room, and just a long bar. I, of course, was at the latter. There were 25 something taps, with a pretty good variety of micros and imports, including something Austrian, Granite Bock that was very interesting an unknown by the staff. A few bartenders, a Sunday aft, and everyone was getting aclimitized to the new location. Strip mall location, 1.5 hours from Orlando. A couple of hundred bottles, including a couple dozen for takeout though at high retail prices.
| | stclairtr (10), Houston, Texas | | January 17, 2009 Awesome. Wasn’t expecting much since it is in a shopping mall, but I was pleasantly surprised. Neat place with good beer selection and knowledgeable staff. | | Ibrew2or3 (145), Safety Harbor, Florida | | August 29, 2008 Wow, very long narrow space with bar seating to the right and tables, cold storage deli meats and cheeses to the left. Worn in place with plenty of character along with a big top circus tarp thingy dressing up the ceiling. Although I keep hearing comments that they are relocating away from here. That’s big, they’ve been here forever. This place has one of the best tap selections in Florida with a lot of cool craft brews and numerous German offerings. I wish I lived close enough to drop by more than once or twice a year. | | kiefdog (82), Tampa, Florida | | June 28, 2008 Visited on a Saturday in June, 2008 around noon. Was fairly packed with the weekend lunch crowd, but yet the general ambiance was not unpleasantly loud. German polkas were played at a reasonable volume and patrons were readily able to talk amongst themselves at a normal level. We love visiting this place because of the German market/city pub feel to it. The bar literally extends from the front door to the back of the deep but not wide restaurant. Tables are scattered about throughout the place and it literally filled with european foods, chocolates, goodies and most especially beer. We liken visiting this place to going on a treasure hunt because there is so much stacked and scattered throughout the place, we never quite know what rare bread, cheese, chocolate or beer we will find. They have a good number of taps and several hundred bottles. Most of the bottles are warm but there are a few coolers scattered about keeping good beer cool. The food is excellent. We had the grilled rueben and old red baron sandwiches on this trip and it was just like our German grandmother had made them for us. Beers are served in the appropriate glassware and the servers are able to talk about the beers on tap and in the bottle. The price of the food and draft beer is reasonable but our only complaint is the exorbitant pricing of the warm bottled beer. Some of the beers were priced 30-60% above other stores in the immediate area. If you are looking for a great place to eat and drink in an authentic German atmosphere, stop on by. If you are looking for a good deal on a few bottles, keep on truckin’ to the other good stores in the area. | | Rogueone (21), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio | | April 21, 2008 This place is in a mall. That being said, it is to be expected that there are a lot of people in there that probably are just in there because it’s in the mall and they are waiting to get their nails done or whatever. However, if you can get a seat in there I recommend the bar the service seemed to be way better. Huge fold-out pamphlet that listed over a hundred specialty German beers as well as several on tap. Had to get the pretzels and mustard and it was better than I expected. There is a bunch of German fare for purchase in an adjoining shop, including cheeses, meats, and beer to take home. Overall good experience, and one more reason to visit my grandparents in Tampa. | donna792001 (2), tampa, Florida does not count - explanation | | March 27, 2008 Great little German pub. the food is really good and the atmosphere is really cool. the beers on tap are some of the best and they have a good variety of bottles beers also. decent prices and the staff is great. always busy and just has a happy feel to it. i just wish it was a little bigger. id like to see it become a full restraunt out of the mall. id love to work there too. | View Page : 1 2
