I hear Chalkies is closed now, and that’s shame. In its hey day, it was a flat out awesome place. Delicious and cheap food (especially the sweet potato fires), vast selection of bottled and tap beers (even carried san pellegrino for water), lots of pool tables, TVs, and best yet, SMOKE FREE. The jukebox carried the great Steely Dan radio hits (I played Ricky Don’t Lose That Number all the time), and the servers were for the most part fast, friendly, and sharp witted. This was my favorite place to hang out for years. My buds band played here and did a duet with Chris Shaffer, who was randomly there shooting pool. RIP.

I walked out of here with 2 bottles of Stille Nacht Reserva. Any thing else I need to say? Too bad that it isn’t the same place it was when I was there. They had Piraat and many other great brews on tap back then.

I have not been in a few years but this was a nice place. A non-smoking pool hall is a major plus. There were about 15 taps, a couple of Belgians. Michael Jackson has had some events here. Servers do not know glassware. A fairly nice place and just off the Interstate.

The reopened Chalkies is not as good as the old one for beer lovers. It is still non-smoking and has a lot of pool tables and 4 dart boards. Tonigts tap list worth mentioning: Bells two hearted, amber, and oberon, north coast red seal ale, DFH 60 minute, mad anthony porter, and SN bigfoot. Bottle selection is all bmc. The waitress said they didn’t sell very well so they got rid of the rare bottles. That’s a shame, but business is business. I did not try the food. The fact that is is non=smoking, has games, and at least a few brews I would drink lots of on tap makes it a worthwhile stop.
