RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
The selection is overwhelming (though there is a lot thrown in it for mere bragging rights for the largest selection in the Boston area). Expect to stare at the menu for a while. Also, expect to get some we-ran-out-of-thats on weekends. This isn’t exactly a beer geek’s paradise, however, since you’ll find yourself quibbling with the menu categories more often than not (though you may be charmed by the macro category, curiously named ‘Retro Beers’), in addition to being dumbfounded by the lack of proper glassware and serving temperatures. Even when there is proper glassware (there’s only two kinds: pint glasses and "Belgian-style" chalices) you may not get it. This tends to happen when ordering bottles. When ordering something from the tap you will never get anything other than a pint glass. The college ambiance on weekends may be too much for some, but even they will be happy with the college-friendly prices. The food is on the good side, and the portions on the appetizers are humongous. It may take you a whole six pack to finish their plate of nachos.

| Beese | I think I actually liked the Sunset in Boston more than this one, but they’re definitely both worth visiting as they both have quite extensive beer lists. The interior was a bit more open in this Sunset and I didn’t like the vibe quite as much. The service was acceptable, but not noteworthy. I tried a fair few 8oz samples of some different things on the menu. The food was above average bar-type grub, pretty good and not too pricey.

cbeers21 | Great selection and pretty good food to boot. Tasty brews which were presented properly. The server we had was pretty on the ball about his stuff, even if he was a little surly. A nice place, although a little expensive, but worth it.

puzzl | 100 taps is great, unless half the lines are infected or really old. SERIOUS quality control issues here. Also, we were sat and then didn’t have a server come to our table... ever. We eventually just moved to the bar and had (infected) drinks.

| Imperial-John | Went to Charles St Liquors downtown and they told me that Sunset Grill had the best selection so onto the transit system and here I was. And it was worth the ride, WOW!!! Awesome selection in bottle and on tap (120). On tap I had the Brooklyn Black Choco (coulda had the Stone RIS), Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard, and Hercules. Definitely a can’t miss for beer lovers.

| halfonit | A beer lovers paradise. If you are looking for some different beers, well look no farther. This place has around 100+ beers ON TAP ALONE!!!!! Then it has a whole bible of beers to choose from after that. Food is actually pretty good too! GO AND CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!

ajm | My skirt was not blown up, but I got what I came for. I truly believe this place fills up with goofball Boston College kids at night but I sure was there on a weekday afternoon, so maybe stick to that. The food you can find basically anywhere, the beer - on my trip - I could have found at most better places in Boston. I’d rather be down at the Publick, myself.

| fluffy | were it not for the beer selection, i would probably never go there. its decorated in the typical Applebee’s/TGIF faux kitsch, and unfortunately packs with frat boy types on the weekends and nights. the food is ok sans the nachos which are gigantic and tasty. but the beer selection is what its renowned for, and it earns that. the beer menu(yes, beer menu) is at least 20 pages long with very small print font. now the only bad part is that often the beer you might ask for is not available, but given the selection there is always another option. you can also create flights of drafts which is a plus if you are trying out a few differnt things. the lines are clean since i dont think ive ever had a skunked beer there, and beers are always served in the proper glass. so for a beer junkie, its a great place. just stick to weekdays and eat before you go.

| jwardell | Simply the best beer destination in Boston, if not New England. 120+ beers on tap, 400+ in bottles, dozens of meads, and fairly excellent food. It always astonishes me that not only the bartenders but the waitstaff as well seem to know all about each beer, and and are always ready to offer an intelligent suggestion or alternative. I can just sit and read through the 10-page, daily printed beer menu all night. Parking is tough in the area, take the 57 bus. You’ll be lucky if you can walk anyway by the time you leave after maxing out your credit card on one amazing beer after another.

| hartsville27 | I loved a week’s visit to Boston, but this place was by far the friendliest place I visited. The beer selection was awesome - Old Rasputin on tap, amazing. Paired with a Pumpkin Bourbon Cheesecake! Food and beer were great, and the people who worked there were the best. I wanted to bring the whole place home with me so it’d be right down the street, every day!

yobdoog | Wonderful place, my favorite place in Boston so far. The food was outstanding and had so much to choose from on the menu. The beer menu is insane too. I mean a ton of bottle and a ton of drafts. There were so many beers on tap I have never had I didn’t even get to have all of them before I left. The staff was awesome and got some samples with no hastle. The menu is catagorized and easy to read and it is just a fun place.
