UPDATE - As of 2/3/13, this place is now CLOSED! Looks like a better place than it really is. Food is OK. Not too many beer choices, 4 or 5 maybe. The beer itself is average at best. For Cape it’s an all right place I guess, but there are a lot better places in a lot of other Missouri towns.

Located in downtown district next to the Mississippi River. It’s a large place in what used to be a department store. The "brewery" is to your right as your enter then there is a large bar. In the back there is seating that overlooks the river. They normally have 7-8 beers on tap, a couple are usually seasonal. The beers we had we quite decent but nothing outstanding. But considering where you are, it was quite good. The menu seem quite good, from "pub grub" to regular meals with a daily special or two thrown in. My only complaint was how slow the service was.

Was here the first week in July 2009 for lunch. The place is big with lots of seating as booths or tables. The old department store flooring still resides in the building. A great view of the river can be seen from the east side where they typically seat patrons who are eating. Service was okay but they were just a bit slow for only having a few people in there. Food was okay. I had the blackened catfish and it was slightly burned but the seasoning was great and the portion was decent. The chicken strips that my grandmother in-law and son had were nice big chunks of chicken breast batter, not the pre-processed junk. Beers were kind of a disappointment because they seemed to be skimping on the malt to lower the gravities way to low (or save money). If they had just a bit more body they would be a ton better. IPA was by far the best of the ones they had on tap. It was neat to see the brewer there working as we were eating. My son loved looking at the levy, huge barges going by and the trains outside the window as we ate. Very easy to find. Overall a nice place to give a shot if your rolling through town.

Right on the riverfront in old town Cape. Almost skipped it since is was hard to tell if the place was open. Walking in here the look of the place is decent, lots of exposed wood and some of the tables overlook the Mississippi river which is a few feet away. Staff was distant, so much so i almost had to go back in the kitchen to have someone serve me. After they served me my pale ale and took my order is was back in the kitchen and i was left to myself at the bar as i was the sole patron on a Sunday afternoon. If I was a bastard I could have walked out of there with the register and bottles of booze they would have never known. The beer itself was decent and the fish and chips was also quite good. Good setting and cool looking old building but no real interaction with a customer. I’m sure it its diferent when busy but when you hardly notice you have a customer it loses points big time.

Came across this by accident. Very friendly waitress. The bartender was also very friendly and knowledgeable about beers. Menu with pizzas (homemade crust), burgers, sandwiches, steaks (I had the pizza - very good). Good beers. I’ll definitely be back.
