Based on regular visits. Cozy, Oud Bruin café, like the ambiance. This used to be one of my favorites, but the last couple of times I lost my interest. Service often uninterested or too slow. A huge beer menu in bottles, but all the regular Dutch and Belgian stuff. Seems they lost track of what is going on now a days. Still a nice place to go. Prices ok to (very) high.

Great beer bar in The Hague, a lot of Dutch and Belgian beers and the occasional US ones. Very friendly and warm atmosphere and great looking place, overall.

I’m sitting here at the bar of one of my former haunts and I’m staggered that I never rated the place on RB, so here we go. This is probably the premium beer destination in Den Haag. They have 10 taps but many are pretty uninteresting with just a couple of guests. The Dutch/Belgian bottle selection is quite impressive though. I love the old school Dutch boozer, brown bar ambience. It’s a great place to be during the winter and in the summer too where you can sit on the outside terrace on the canal. Great service and solid wifi. Check it out!

Has been my go-to bar in this town for at least 8 years. Very friendly staff, but they take their time... Waiting for a beer or waiting for the possibility to order can be a pain. Not if you’re totally relaxed about it, like the staff usually is. Then everything’s fine! A fine place to be. The tap selection is limited, the bottle selection is quite extensive (ask for the beer book) but consists mainly of local and classical Belgian ales. Not much of the modern brews or exotic breweries from around the world.

Was there in the summer so was sitting outside and sitting outside on the boat is always fun. What an lovely selection they had also staff was friendly and relaxed. Only thing I was shocked was prices. I gues I gad some of the most expensive pints in my life. Even more than in Londonds craft pubs. Besides that lovely indeed.

Typical Brown cafe with a great atmosphere, huge bottle list including some Westvleteren ( 18.50 euro ) Good tap selection with a good number of Dutch craft. Good service at the bar.

Nice bar by the canal and indeed with a seating area actually on the canal. Nice to while away some time watching the hordes of Ring Necked Parakeet alien invaders (oooh sorry it’s 2015 - welcome immigrants) flying about and squawking their heads off. A decent bottle selection managed to eek out a few ticks for Brother Bois and yours truly. A nice place to try just don’t expect a tick frenzy.

The place has a good feel to it, with nice seats and a lot of locals. The selection, although extensive, isn’t very exciting (the more known Belgian and Dutch beers), but they had a couple of lesser known surprises. The staff wasn’t very helpful though and most beers were way overpriced. So, all in all, a nice café, but next time I’m in The Hague, I’ll try some other place.

Visited on Saturday 26/09/15 around 7 pm. Backstreet canalside bar around a 10 minute walk from the centre Cafe De Paas offers around 10 biers on tap and 100 or so bottles. If you are newish to the rating game you may well be able to fill your boots with new ticks but for the seasoned pro the pickings are a little slim. That said Madmitch76 and I picked up one on tap and maybe 3 new bottles. I just got the impression the selection was pretty tried and trusted and didn’t change about too much. Aside from the beer the inside is all about the wood, kind of has the feel of a seafaring bar in Cornwall. For me the place to be was outside ... They have a boat moored against the street on the canal. Seats about eighty I would guess so no dinghy! Really enjoyed sitting out there as the boat rocked gently. Service was fine although a little slow outside .... that said it’s not set up for tickers ! Overall a nice bar, more for the ambiance for me than the beer quality or rates on offer.

Visited twice during the Borefts weekend late at night. Easy to find & close to Den Haag HS. Gorgeous on the inside, old style bar, lots of wood, very cozy. Talked to locals on both nights & they were oddly excited / in love with the place, assuming that I made the trip specifically to visit this place. I got someone’s olives from what looked like a pretty epic cheese plater. The selection features quite a bit of Brand beers, beers from largely solid and established but more safe breweries like Jopen, Ramses & ‘t IJ. So far so good but the prices are a big minus here. Way too high even keeping the higher prices for beer in the Netherlands in mind. Just way too much. Draft selection usually seems to feature 1 or 2 more interesting beer. Bottle menu was a bit dull & safe with a board of new arrivals which were far more interesting but a few were priced through the roof. Service was friendly & nice. It is not a super beer geek place but it has definite charm & some nice stuff but the high prices really took it down for me. They were busy on both nights so people seem to be fine with them. One of the barmen knew about Borefts but oddly asked me if it is a Bock festival. In his defense he did have a solid logic, they used to sell De Molen Borefts Bock back when De Molen still made it and Borefts apparently takes place in Bock season.
