Having changed hands a couple of times over the last few years, this pub is currently called simply the Moot. The ales are usually in quite good condition, and it has more than the average number of hand pumps. That said, they no longer enjoy the range or quality that they did when it was the Old Moot Hall (whose previous landlord is now at the nearby King William IV) and last time I was in, the atmosphere was marred by unpleasant early nineties dance music.

Very well centered pub that seems quite popular and welcomes a varied clientele. Solid selection of Midlands’s beers, apparently changing very fast and in good conditions during my visit. Nottingham has many of those pretty good pubs, it’s hard to put this one amongst the very top, but it’s really easy to get to, so I think you should stop by even if staying only a day.

The range and quality of the real ales is superb, the best in Nottingham. Very rarely will a pump be without a beer in the evening unless the landlord is not present. A friendly local for regulars and new comers alike with a good atmosphere. The quiz on Sunday nights at 9 is recommended, but turn up early as it gets very busy. regular beer is Oakham JHB and other beers hail from oakham, newby wyke, titanic, roosters and beyond. Scottish, Welsh and IoM beers represented sometimes also. One continental beer on draught. beer is first on the agenda in this pub. Basic but good food served 12-2 but a range of delicious home made cob available on request nb. new pub so wont be in GBG 2004 but will be in GBG 2005.
