There are at most 12 active lines here, a good selection for anywhere in the province. Just off downown, parking available, but food is 30 minutes delay. A decent selection with Ontario being well-represened. Bill the owner holds court and the place is full at night, not so much mid-day. Reasonable enough environment. If you are in hamilton, this is the place to spend any time for beer.

Nice atmosphere for the old school pub savvy and great beer selection.

Came here for the fall festival on September 29, 2007. A very good deal for $35 you get unlimited access to the wares on tap and plenty of food - they had a pig roast this time around and some cheese and cold meats. So my view is a little skewed because I haven’t been here on a normal day. Most people seemed to know each other and there was a mixture of young & old. Probably about 15 regional beers on tap and plenty of good ones but not any better than Toronto, which is no surprise. Interesting layout inside it’s kind of just all over the place and you can sit on a couple of patios and two floors. Good location, literally behind the GO station...

One of my favourite places to drink. Always something interesting. Sensitive beer snobs need not apply. You are not worthy.

This is a great place to try lots of different beers as they change often, every week i believe. The service is good and very friendly. The wings are amazing, the rest of the food is good but the selection is small. I’ve met the owner and he is alright, he’s not as bad as the other people make him out to be.

Agree with various comments above. It’s a great place. Lots of free samples.

This is a tough one. On one hand you have an amazing Ontario micro friendly mecca, all set in an old haunted Victorian House feel. When blankboy and I visited, the police officer, turned barkeep keep us well supplied with homebrew, samples, and a trip to the amazing tap handle graveyard in the attic. And the Spring and Summer festivals are amazing. But the owner can come off as an ignorant obnoxious ass who I have 0 respect for completely. So apart from the festival, I am never going to make my Go Bus day off work trek, which I was starting to do with some frequency. Never had the food.

Comfortable pub ambiance with an interesting cast of regulars. Yes, the owner, Bill, can be a little much, but he is generally harmless and does a lot to help local charities. The rest of the staff is quite friendly and helpful. Very good tap selection--though not as impressive as it used to be--with a few surprises here and there. Don’t bother with the bottles. The food is quite good, and the wings are fantastic. Their semi-annual beerfest is not to be missed--it is the best in Ontario, and the brewers often make really interesting festival specials.

See David’s comments immediately preceding mine...yes, the ambiance is amazing, old Victorian house with beautiful chairs and sofas, aged and used look which I typically favor...and yes, the seleciton of Ontario micros is large and as varied as it gets in the beer-poor province; but the owner was just too damn obnoxious, I don’t care if its his shtick, he really seemed not to respect us obvious tourists and was venomous and angry...and yeah, the few bottles are obscenely expensive. I’d return for the ambiance but not much else.
