| savnac (57), Palmer, Alaska | | October 25, 2009 Located in the historic town of Gettysburg, a nice place to stop after checking out all the battlefields. We just stopped for some beer and sat at the bar. Service was good, but nothing special. The selection was very good, we mainly stopped to try some Broad St Barley Wine since they had ran out in Harrisburg. This was a nice place. | | roder60 (31), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | August 13, 2009 Went to gettysburg for the day and did the auto tour of the battlefield in the morning which took about 4 1/2 hours then hit this place for lunch before heading back to Pittsburgh. Outside looks like a crappy diner and they have banquet halls in the basement for rent. Atmosphere really isn’t much. A lot of families eating in here, pretty typical small town family restaurant. Menu was basic bar foods, though the sandwich I ordered was really really good and totally hit the spot. They had 18 beers on tap when I was there, all appalachian beers, with a lot being ones that they make specially on site. I ordered the $10 sampler which gives you 8 samples at 5oz a piece. Me and my friends spent about 3 hours here and really enjoyed it. Definitely worth a stop. | tdaglow (6), Minnesota does not count - explanation | | July 2, 2009 This place was an oasis in a hot day walking around the battle fields and site seeing. I tried 4 of the beers and all were solid, nothing mind blowing but fine beer all the same. The food was great, especially the salads. There were perfect size personal pizzas for the kids and homemade root beer. The place couldn’t be more conveniently located either. Directly on Seminary Ridge it is perfect for doing half of the Auto Tour and stopping for lunch. If you are in Gettysburg and appreciate beer at all it is a must stop. I recommend the Major Hops Olde Ale. Also, be aware the picture shown is of the Harrisburg Brewery. Their website has some pictures if you want to know what to look for. | | DrDavid (20), Johnson, Vermont | | January 5, 2009 Convenient location on the Chambersburg Pike (Buford Ave.), heading into Gettysburg from the west. Country pub atmosphere. The food is acceptable, if not terrific. The real attraction of this place is that it absolutely centers around the beer. Samplers of 8 are readily available, and the staff are eager to share all manner of information about styles, beer stats, etc. Table service is friendly and competent. The beer itself is reasonably good, especially the stout. I have visited Gettysburg many many times for the history, but this was my first visit to the brewpub. I will definitely return to the ABC on my next trip. | | NelsonCrowle (11), Florida | | August 18, 2008 Visited 2 August 2008 (Saturday) at 4PM. Very knowledgable and helpful bartender. Excellent fresh homemade flavorful root beer. Above average food. Beer statistics on a flip menu at the table - catering to beer geeks. Beers were all above average (except the Pilsner - which had soured and should not have been served), most were very good, particularly the barleywine, the Scottish ale, and the Rye.
BEERS (sampler of 8-5 oz beers for $8) - see www.BuildABeer.org for detailed beer ratings. | | hellbilly (64), scottsdale über alles, Arizona | | June 28, 2008 one of the best things going in this town i grew up in. this used to be an old crappy restaurant.... wait, it’s still pretty much the same.... kitschy civil war crap on the walls. mediocre food and good beer from a broad spectrum of styles.
abc keeps me sane whilst visiting family... | | Hank1980 (37), Athens, Georgia | | December 27, 2007 [ Updated September 29, 2008 ] Good brewpub right next to the battlefield. Broad selection of all of their beers. A good offering of different foods on their menu. Good stop when in the area. | | Braudog (476), Dayton, Ohio | | July 8, 2007 July 2007 - Situated dang near on the edge of historic battlefields, this is a nice enough little American brewpub. ABC makes always-good beers and the food was good enough that I cleaned my plate, even if wasn’t haute cuisine. And for Pennsylvania, one of the best things was the ability to buy mix and match bottles of the tasty brews. Worth a stop if you’re in town. | | ¾ (599), Colorado | | June 9, 2007 Nice brewery located just to the west of town. Large bar area that resembles a loft or high-ceilinged cabin. Good, varied selection of taps with the barley wine, hefeweizen, ipa and anniversary maibock available. 9 taps total, with the pale ale on cask. Had some fries that had way too much seasoning, almost couldn’t stomach them, but overall it’s a nice place to drink and I’ll stop in again next time I’m through the area. | | Ungstrup (245), Frederiksberg, Denmark | | January 2, 2007 Great location - if you know where to look for it. Outskirts of town, right on the battlefield route between sights 3 and 4. Unfortunately we didn’t know, and didn’t notice it when we drove past around lunchtime. So a good tip is to start the battle field tour (audio guide) late morning and hit the brewpub for lunch. We walked here from the centre of town and that was a bit of a hike. The interior is quite cozy with wooden walls, a wooden bar etc. but I did get annoyed with the constant draft from the fan and very low temperature the AC was set at. The food was delicious - I had a pork chop with blue cheese and mushrooms. The staff is friendly. But be aware of the opening times Sunday to Thursday they shut at 9 PM. 11 beers on draft, ranging from poor to really good quality. |
