HopHead7 (4), , does not count - explanation | | January 10, 2012 Had lunch here one Sunday. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about. We did experience good service though as our waitress was very helpful and friendly. Good selection of brews that not only included the Appalachian line, but other craft brews as well such as Delerium Tremmens and Lindemans Lambic. Ambience is ok, it kind of has the look of a Ruby Tuesdays with its decor. | | miketd (91), Cleveland, Ohio | | April 4, 2011 Stopped by for lunch on the way back from DC. Place was slow, but still, somehow, the service sucked. Food was average or below; the beer was ok. I had the IIPA and the IPA. Both were decent, but the waitstaff completely ruined this place for me. Here’s a tip for people working in the service industry - If you have a shit outlook on life or are too stupid and/or lazy to wait tables, go work in the kitchen. | | Tomfoolery (17), Sedalia, Missouri | | March 19, 2011 Hung out here after exhausting battlefield tours last year. Never very crowded but college was out when we were there. Typical pub inside. As time permitted, bartender gave us excellent attention and shared limited edition brews with us. Overall beer selection was average but high average on taste. Food typical but certainly of good quality. After chasing the likes of Meade, Longstreet, Lee and Pickett-definitely stop for a respite! | | DiarmaidBHK (281), Pennsylvania | | March 4, 2011 The interior looked like where the kids in Caddyshack hung out after they got kicked out of the pool. I don’t normally comment on the bathrooms but this one was poorly lit and had the toilet paper dispenser was several pieces on the counter next to the sink. The beers I tried were very good but in fairness the best thing I had was the root beer. It was fantastic. I wanted to try one of their seasonal belgian style beers but you had to order a 3 beer sampler to try one and the glasses were 8 ounces each which seemed a bit excessive. I can’t say I was blown away by this place. | | LilBeerDoctor (185), East Setauket, New York | | January 1, 2011 A nice restaurant/brewpub tucked away in the small town of Gettysburg. I stopped here on a Thursday evening after a long day of driving. The restaurant was fairly full but we found seats at the bar. There were quite a number of beers on tap (it looked like ~6 year-rounders + 6 "seasonals"/rotators) so there certainly is plenty to choose from. The beers we tried were pretty good - no real stand-outs but most decent. As far as food, I just got the cheddar ale soup and it was pretty good (wanted to order the chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert, but they were out :-( ). Overall a nice, cozy place to enjoy a pint. Definitely worth a stop, especially given the large selection of beers on tap. | | Drake (254), Charlottesville, Virginia | | July 16, 2010 Stopped by here on the way back home from a trip in the Lancaster area. The place looks small at first but if you poke around it is actually quite large. I’m not sure the parking lot could handle a full restaurant. Fairly laid back and casual. The food was fairly average but decently priced. Service was helpful. I tried nine beers and while there were a couple of misses (sadly one on my favorite stylse) overall they were quite good. Prices were decent overall. Beer is available to go in six and twelve packs, as well as growlers. Overall a nice stop that exceeded my expectations. | wratt (7), Kentucky does not count - explanation | | May 2, 2010 Went with my girlfriend after lunch hours on a Tuesday. Place was pretty quiet, but the building was kinda neat. Definitely better than some of the strip mall brewpubs I’ve been to. They were brewing that day, and there was a pleasant (to me) smell of mashing grains in the parking lot.
I had the 8 beer sampler, which was good, but nothing especially notable.
My girlfriend had the chedder ale soup, which she liked, but the sandwiches we got were pretty dull. | | Parrothead (12), Ephrata, Pennsylvania | | February 21, 2010 Was there for lunch on a Saturday. Service was great, food was too, with the exception of a salad that had to be taken off the bill - it was old. Had one ber, a Russian Imperial stout, which was great. Too bad the restaurant is an old non-descript building. Will go back for sure. | | savnac (138), Anchorage, Alaska | | October 25, 2009 Located in the historic town of Gettysburg, a nice place to stop after checking out all the battlefields. We just stopped for some beer and sat at the bar. Service was good, but nothing special. The selection was very good, we mainly stopped to try some Broad St Barley Wine since they had ran out in Harrisburg. This was a nice place. | | roder60 (38), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | August 13, 2009 Went to gettysburg for the day and did the auto tour of the battlefield in the morning which took about 4 1/2 hours then hit this place for lunch before heading back to Pittsburgh. Outside looks like a crappy diner and they have banquet halls in the basement for rent. Atmosphere really isn’t much. A lot of families eating in here, pretty typical small town family restaurant. Menu was basic bar foods, though the sandwich I ordered was really really good and totally hit the spot. They had 18 beers on tap when I was there, all appalachian beers, with a lot being ones that they make specially on site. I ordered the $10 sampler which gives you 8 samples at 5oz a piece. Me and my friends spent about 3 hours here and really enjoyed it. Definitely worth a stop. |
