Alus Seta - Lido

Really central old town location, so easy to get. Basically food cafeteria, about 4-5 taps with Lido beers. Food was quite ok, you can combine stuff like in other Lido locations, so you can make something that suits for you - hence recommended. Prices are ok for the old town. Service was disinterested, but not awful. Overall: may revisit for food.

It's more like a food place rather than beer. That being said they do have at least some of their core range beers sold here. Worth to pop through if hungry and in area.

Noisy and crowded rooms. More a cafeteria than a restaurant. 7 taps, beer list at a column, the staff did not want to hand out one for me. Had a buffet. The guy behind the food did not seem to understand English. Food bland and tasteless. No salt and pepper on the tables. Food cheap though. Tables were not cleared.Tables and benches outdoor. As the plates were not removed birds ate the remains. The beer I had was not especially good. All 7 taps looked Latvian.

Pleasant country trahter environment. Small beer selection, same as other Lidos, so a tasty local brew is definitely available. We put together a small seafood salad, and walked away with a 25e bill. That’s about 2 weeks’ wages here in Latvia - dafuq!?!? Of course, it was very tasty, but the price tainted that somewhat. In particular given that Lido food is available back home in Tallinn. Note - cheaper food was available, it’s just that we wanted smoked butterfish, etc.. Place ticked, one more internet point scored, hoorah for me.

Well located. Food is really good.. About beer, only Lido is available. It’s not the best but with a good piece of smoked pork the beer is good.

Nice modern but old-style cafe-restaurant based firmly on its massive, excellent value buffet. Lots of wooden fixtures and a good atmosphere. Part of the Lido chain but with a couple of beers from Uzavas too. However, no modern Latvian beers so is missing a trick and falliing behind.

The original and best of the Lido chain. Beer range is limited by todays standards, but was progressive when first opened 20 years ago. Normally serves 2 Uzavas and 2 Lido beers. Large portion of good value food availbale on a self service baisis. Winderful atmosphere, reminiscent of Gewrman beer garden. Can be crowded wuth tourists, but also well used by locals. My favourite pub in the world !

Decent enough cafeteria-style Latvia food at fairly reasonable prices. Or at least decent and reasonable given that you’re in the heart of Riga old town and all the tourist traps you find in such places. Fairly pretty decor but the owner could spend more on both heating (most people in the place kept their coats on while eating) and lighting. I’m not sure if the barman was utterly exhausted or just didn’t give a shit about his customers, but the chefs dishing up the food were both very nice. Only three beers on tap but they’re very reasonable offerings and the one-litre steins of house Medalus for EUR 3.40 were the best value beer we had in Riga. In short the place is good, not great, but we’ll certainly go back when next in Riga.

Convenient location in the center of the old town. Nice patio to relax with a beer or two and/or some food. Didn’t eat, just had one of their own beer and that was quite okay. Nice place to have a pit-stop. (Visited: 2014-07-11)
