78 Cheeseboard review says it all. Amazing place. |
80 What a place. It's amazing. It's confusing, it's brilliant. A labyrinthine myriad of beer halls with a large biergarten out the back. Lots of food kiosks in the hallways between the beer halls. Self service: pay, get a mug (litre or half litre), wash it at the fountain and hand it to the guy pouring the only beer direct from the wooden cask. Cash only! The marzen was very decent. the building and the atmosphere were superb. It was rammed at 5pm, we struggled to find seats. Might have stayed for 4 or 5 beers just marvelling at the place. A must visit for sure |
70 Visited December 2022. Loud, giant and crowded beerhall. Only one beer (their Märzen) on tap. Self-service and cash payment only. The beer was excellent, the food is standard Biergarten food. Basically this is an indoor Biergarten. Must go when in Salzburg. |

62 Holy guacamole this Austria tavern has got to be one of the weirdest places I've ever sat for a beer. A must! |
74 This place is awesome! A huge church complex with a bunch of food stalls, a few different indoor and one large outdoor seating area to drink the one beer offered. It's completely inconspicuous depending on what entrance you use, even walking past statues of Jesus to get to the beer. The one option is poured from traditional wooden barrels via gravity, into ceramic mugs you pick up from the shelves yourself. Bring cash, as no where takes card, but it is worth it, as everything is cheap and amazing! |
90 Selection is very easy. You can buy small or large beer. Atmosphere in summer is perfect. Giant gardens under a lot of trees. Have to see and relax after craft beers |
56 Surprisingly hard to google for the location, but hard to miss. Huge Bierhalle, with food vendors located all around the edges in the hallways. The main hall is big and loud, but there are quite nooks around. The signage is poor, so I fumbled my way through buying a beer. So, to help other like myself, it works by pickup up a mug of the size you want from the shelf, go to the cashier and buy the beer and he'll give you a ticket, then give the ticket to the guy at the casks, and he'll rudely tell you off, slosh your beer everywhere, and somehow pour you the wrong beer - despite only having two to choose from. Still the two casks are lovely, the building is fabulous, and the price is certainly right. Now that I know how it works, if I'm ever back in Salzburg, I'll be there! |
64 one beer on tap, but an excellent one, great atmosphere of the old gothic monastery, tourists and locals drink together side by side, food is quite expensive and fatty and not really fine for vegetarians |
68 A must visit in Salzburg and a great experience. Very friendly ambiance. Selection is very limited but it´s a nice place to spend a couple of hours. The place is huge and beautiful. Next one please! |
