Interesting beer bar right in the CBD. Basement, hipster Japanese aesthetic. Nice selection of NZ taps and some international brews as well. Food was mediocre and overpriced.

No bottle list, few packaged beer, a few cult beers at exorbitant prices. People are here drinking and it's comfortable. Seems oversold but good.

Not sure what the hype is here. Not many local draft options, strange dungeon like bar. Kind of felt like I was breaking the law being in here. Music wasn't great either. Food was just ok. Probably would not return.

Not a big fan of the ambiance of the bar but it’s just my opinion. Good selection but the bottles are a little bit too expensive. Not my favorite craft beer bar in the city but still a good place, in my top 5.

Effortlessly cool place. Staff helpful and friendly, though didn’t go out of their way to talk about beer. Tap selection was well varied and featured some very interesting beers, despite its relatively small size. Bottle selection looked impressive, but is far too expensive. Certainly worth the trip.

Great spot in Wellington CBD. Great service, really awesome people who are really passionate about beer (and TBH why would you not be WTF why do you bother living life beer is everything). Killer ’biance in the basement of a Japanese style joint. Great selection for Wellington, interesting NZ tap list and lots of international bottles. One of the first stops you should make when you come here.

2016-05-29. 6-8 taps and 2 hand pulls are not offering much exciting despite a couple of rarities Parrot Dog Rarebird Moa being the exception/highlight. Impressive bottle list is priced to match (I couldn’t talk myself into paying $25-45 for most of what caught my eye.) so we chose carefully. Service was decent. Cool Asian themed decor. Basement location is dark, but cozy for the most part. Very nice but just not as good as I had hoped, especially for a place scoring in the 90s on Ratebeer. Perhaps it’s unfair to go in with such high expectations - I suspect I might enjoy HZ more on a return visit but on this trip other places in town made more of an impression on me.

Staff has great knowledge of their beer. Cool underground area. Non invasive music. Came midday so not many people but a nice place.

A dark place but unique and cool, a decent selection of beer and not your usual selection. The staff know their stuff.
