Have been there some time ago. This is OK place to first introduce to the main macros of the country, but to find something more, you must seek deeper. In the lounge, there actually are some better examples of macros, but I guess it does change what is offered. Its usually self-service.

So there are places where you can sit down and drink some beer. Mostly macros, but some micros can be found too. Usually overpriced... a lot. Avoid if possible if not, well you get a place tick.

A mix of macro and semi-macro beers. It was ok for me because the country I am based in imports next to no Latvian stuff, despite sharing a border. Probably not so good if you are coming from the EU.

Seems to have changed a bit from my last visit in 2010, but the beer selection is still pretty decent for an Airport. I think Old City was the souvenir shop i visited back then. Now the BTV Local Shop/Souvenir shop is the one most similar and with the largest beer selection. It’s located im sector E on the 2nd floor (just opposite one of the Duty Free stores). Around 15 bottles at around 1.4-1.6 LVL each (50cl). The usual suspects from the major breweries (including Aldaris Porteris), but also some from Piebalgas and Bauskas. One of the best airport shops I have been to regarding beer selection actually, but still far from exiting. Some of the other stores/kiosks also had some beer, but usually just a couple of pale lagers. A couple of Valmiermuižas was available at the cafe "Buffet" in sector B (2nd floor). (Also a couple of beers at Narvesen [Aldaris Dūmaku, Lāčplēsis Ekstra])

I could not find the store "Old City" that KnutAlbert references below, and can not find any information online about it’s existence. So it may or may not be here. I did have a chance to scope the beer selection at a number of cafes and delis inside RIX. A short stopover and beer bottles that looked interesting enough meant we had to get a tick or two while passing through. When next to drink a Latvian beer in Latvia? Beer from Valmiermuižas happened, and positive words for their beer are hard to come by. Very wort-like with a lot of raw malt extract syrup flavors for both. Of course here you can also find a few variants of Aldaris, and I think I remember seeing a Bauskas bottle at a deli country as well. Slim pickings.

If you have a stopover, this airside shop has about a dozen Latvian beers, the selection varies over time. Most of them are pale lagers, but some are fairly rare. More expensive than in downtown shops, but you can put them in your hand luggage!
