94 This was a really great place, on-par with Bierkoning. It’s a sad loss... |
72 Was an OKplace when I visited back in the early-mid 2000’s. Selection was good for US stuff, but pricey. |
64 Not so long ago in early 2010 when I first visited The Cracked Kettle was just as good as Bierkoning. A tightly packed small store on two floors. The Dutch and Belgium selection was a bit better at Bierkoning but the American selection was a bit better at The Cracked Kettle. But I was back in Amsterdam in late 2011 and it was a different story. Now the second floor of The Cracked Kettle is closed because “we do not have enough beer at the moment”, or so I was told. Compare to Bierkoning only a few blocks away the selection was pretty lame except for American beers. Somehow Cracked Kettle still manages to score cool American beers but the prices on those are through the roof. Anyway, things might change but as of late 2011 The Cracked Kettle was a distant second to Bierkoning. And now I see it is out of business… |
72 Visited in October 2011 on trip to Amsterdam. The store is down a cool little ally, as if out of a movie. Well decorated exterior with a cool wooded interior. Cool looking with a small, cute dog in the store. However, after BierKoning there was not much I wanted at this store. Looking around though there were few of the beers I wanted to start with. I bough only one beer, Fantome St. Roch, which was not available at BierKoning. Not much interesting glassware. Worth a stop but only after Bierkoning. The prices were lower than the website. |
80 Good shop in the middle of Amsterdam. Small room, lots of beers. There are beers i 2 meters hight, on the floor, on the stairways, everywere. Getting a good service was difficult, since the man in the shop didn’t speak english. |
94 I can only speak for the online shop, as I did not visit this shop during my stay in Amsterdam. Service and response on my e-mails has been top, always noticed me when the shipment leaved their premises with tracking ID.Excellent selection for a Norwegian like me, with some hard to find beers as well. |
86 Another excellent beer store in downtown Amsterdam, just a block away from that other one. The selection isn’t quite as good, but the ambiance a bit nicer perhaps, not so crowded. More Dutch stuff here I think, but the American and other foreign isn’t as large as at the other one. Both are definitely worth visiting. |
82 One of the great beer shops in Amsterdam and in Holland. Located in the center off the Singel, the Cracked Kettle caters to all tastes, but in particular, those interested in Belgian and Dutch beers. |
86 Used to order from their eshop, together with my tasting group in Athens. Great variety, good prices on the local brews but tents to be very expensive with the more difficiult to find beers. |
82 Small beer store krancked up with a good selection of all kinds of beers. Extremely helpful staff, I had a list they picked up from the shelves in just a couple of minutes. Was a bit dissapointed with just a couple of de Molens available, but what the heck, there was plenty of others. Central location is nice and the prices are reasonable. |
