68 About 10 minutes walk from Pinthouse, this place reminds me of a classic British pub. The place looks great, all Tudor look, wood benches, big patio. Extensive beer styles produced but what i tasted was variable. No tasters, just half pints for 5$. Food truck on premise. |
80 Bit outside of city center, but fairly close to some other beer venues. Looks like a traditional pub imitating those in UK. Picnic tables outside and traditional interior with loots of wood inside. They had more than 20 of their own beers on plus about 15 taps of guest beers. Lots of usual suspects in guest department. Couple of hand pulls as well. Their beers seem to be more traditional style wise. The one beer I've tried was below average, but I wish I had more time to try the rest. They still serve half pours so not too bad for tickers. |
84 We came here on 17.7.2022. Seems to be an old pub from 1969 which has added a brewery. About 20 own beers. The two IPA’s we had were excellent (check the Dandy Hazy IPA). Maybe the best beers I have had in Texas. Brewhouse is super small in a separate room to the right. They have around 15 guest beers on tap. Good selection including Paulaner, Belgium beers and New Belgium. Nice outside beer garden with a DJ playing vinyl. Very good place !! |
86 Nice biergarten style setup, with a permanent food truck set up for victuals. Good selection of brewed and guest taps. Staff was friendly and accommodating. |
80 Popped in to this one for a few on a Tuesday night in December. It was an Uber ride for the centre, about 20 minutes I think. The place is an older almost British style bar, cosy, lots of wood. The beer selection was very good, their own beers and plenty of guest beers, including a couple from Jester King, which I went for, along with a DIPA from Alpine, all beers were great. They served 5 ounce or 6.5 I think, after I asked. The Jester King Geuze was very expensive at $11.00 for 5 ounce, good to try though. The place was busy, could have done with a few more staff maybe. Over all worth a look in. |

82 Use to really love this place in college but after my recent visit I was slightly less impressed. That said it's still a great spot. 70+ taps, great variety, they offer a taster as well. The daily specials are cool and you can see what exactly is on tap as well as how much is left on the digital pour app. I still dig this place but it's not my favorite anymore. |
80 This is an interesting place that certainly makes you feel like you are in Texas. Small lot with cars in every direction makes parking fun. Large outdoor seating area in communal long picnic tables. About as spartan as possible inside. Nothing on the walls other than one TV, minimal space between the bar and the door, less between the business side of the bar and the back wall. Nowhere did I see any indication of what was on tap other than their own beers, which makes life interesting. The whole place smelled fairly strongly of industrial cleaner, which likely was in response to what it USED to smell like, as noted in a few reviews as well as a local who came in after me and seemed happy about it. No flights; the bartender said that they tried it once and it lasted less than a day. Primary problem is working space behind the bar, I guess. Whatever. They have half pours, so I got a couple halfs and headed outside. Neither were good. C’est la vie. Can’t recommend this place for their house beer, but with that many taps there is bound to be something worth drinking, and sitting outside has its benefits. |
96 The best (and oldest) pure craft beer bar in Austin. The half-dozen house brewed beers are always very good and often excellent. Almost 80 taps provide a wide variety of styles from a wide variety of brewers. There is one TV which (thankfully) is always muted and usually off, and no muzak. Two dart boards. There’s dark wood inside and a large beer garden outside. Bar service only, no waitstaff. You can wait awhile to get a beer when it is busy. No food, but a random food truck shows up at 5 pm every day. Free sausages at 5 pm on Saturdays. Cash is preferred, but they do take cards. Plenty of parking in lots nearby. This is a perfect place to have a really good beer and a really good conversation. |
66 A bit run down pub-like place with lots of taps including few own ones which were not so good. Smell of unclean floor was the first thing I noticed. Nice service. Easy to combine this visit one with Pinthouse Pizza. |
