Marduk (7), , Estonia does not count - explanation | | May 11, 2012 In a corner of old town. Good selection of beers. Every week something new. Friendly and helpful staff. Food is ok. | | TBone (173), Pori, Finland | | May 2, 2012 Visited here for the first time during Easter 2012. Very English pub like interior. Had a nice plate of warm soup (it was snowing outside) with a pint of Sillamae Vaskne. Unfortunately not in the best condtion, but very cheap (during Happy Hour it is 2 euros per pint). Nice selection of beers, although not all that is available in Drink Shop next to this. Certainly one of my regular places to visit in Tallinn in the future. | andre1 (3), , Estonia does not count - explanation | | April 3, 2012 Best choice in Tallinn | enn_p (3), , Estonia does not count - explanation | | February 21, 2012 Probably the best place to head out in Tallinn if you like craft beer. The owner, James, is a beer afficionado with extensive knowledge and a background in brewing/sourcing beer. The bar is somewhat small and tends to be quite packed on weekends and a little too cold in the cold winter days, but it attracts a nice bunch of people who care about their beer. Food is half-decent pub grup, with the exception of fish and chips, that is excellent. Bar staff could be a little bit more knowledgable about beer, but living in Estonia, I know how hard it is to find good staff...
Old Speckled Hen and Greene King on tap, along with some of the local specialities (München Vaskne is the best of the lot) and tens of bottles available. Sometimes not all that is listed in the menu is available, which can be frustrating. | | JoeMcPhee (398), Toronto, ON, Ontario | | September 4, 2011 A nice lively spot in an easy to find corner on Vaike Karje. A well-worn inside with a small outdoor seating area as well. Lots of taps with an equally sizable bottle selection. Friendly service even when it gets busy (which it seems to). Seemed like mostly locals (which is nice to see). Happy hour deals were awesome as well. Not much to complain about here. | | RedhawkFIN (12), , Finland | | August 9, 2011 Propbaly the best pub in Tallinn overall. Has a shop attached to it (Drink Shop). Nice selection of draughts and bottles from "beer countries". This corner pub also has a small terrace. | tomclay (3), , does not count - explanation | | June 8, 2011 Probably my favourite bar/ pub in Tallinn, about 2 minute walk from my hostel too!
Beautiful staff, excellent choice of drink, although I wasn’t really looking for a large choice of English drinks, else I’d have not gone that far! | | tomciccateri (89), Albuquerque, New Mexico | | May 15, 2011 Easy walk in old town. 8-place bar with alternating light and dark grains beneath glass in the bar top, along with a selection of bottle caps. TV in the back of the narrow room where football matches are shown, with sound upon request. Well lit in daytime from the windows along the street corner. Comfortable seating in front and rear, with fireplace halfway back.
9 tap handles on a u-shaped copper tap tower. Blackboards show drink menu and sports match schedule. Air conditioned!
Nice selection of UK and Belgian beers. Happy hour 5-7pm on house beers. Most beers ranged from 3 to 3.50 Euro.
Tried the house lager - Sillamäe München Vaskne - one day and it was undrinkable, nasty flavors like the tap lines were not clean. Tried it two days later and it was a nice clean smooth-bodied malty lager.
Lots of regulars, including ex-pats. A comfortable place with a selection that will keep you busy for a while. | | Tim Webb (106), Cambridge, England | | April 10, 2011 A must-visit for Tallinn. At the southern edge of the old town, run by an English ex-pat with a strong interest in beer doing his best to gather imported and better Estonian brews. Good pub food, nice corner bar atmosphere. I would not mind it as my local. | | FatPhil (222), Tallinn, Estonia | | December 28, 2010 [ Updated June 16, 2011 ] Simply the best beer selection in any Estonian pub. Possibly up to 40 bottles at any one time, but rotation from a selection of about 50 or more available ones. They have the freshest, tastiest Sillamae beer you will ever have - delicious - they’ve turned me into a lager drinker! Emphasis a little towards Belgian beers, or at least they have some really really good Belgians. UK bottles not so bad either. Decent pub grub, and occasional sunday roasts are well worth having. Really friendly staff. James quite often has time for a chat despite being very busy, and the barmaids always serve with a smile. It’s never a bad time for a trip to drink (except when it’s closed). |
