84 I have been to a number of Flying Saucers through the years, this is the best one. The initial visit was the best, long ago I had Chimay Blue for the first time here, I will not forget that. A large spread of beers on tap, you can get lost in it. But the list does not seem to change much over time, many ordinary beers. The food has been good, the service at times has been extraordinary. The downtown neighborhood was once a bit concerning but has improved significantly. A lot to appreciate here. Good memories. |
62 If you've been to one FS you've been to 'em all. Great location, selection of beers was ok, not many whales, service was trying hard but there weren't enough servers. Worth a stop, not a must-see in a surprisingly good beer city. |
78 Large, tall space, kitschy beer decour; good WiFi; about 50 taps and a fair amount of cans and bottles; attentive service that gets very stretched as the place gets more busy: flights available at $4 per beer (yes, it’s not cheap but it is much cheaper than buying pints and it lets one try more); pizza is good |
60 Came here on 1.5.2018. Very centrally located huge beer bar in Houston downtown. Beer selection was not convincing and service not very beer knowledgeable. I had the local Saint Arnold Art Car IPA, which was ok. Overall a mediocre beer place |
62 This is a huge pub in the middle of Houston, looks can be deceiving but it’s a beer hall en force and often packed to the gills. Waitering can get lost in the background because of so many people (and in fact they compted me a stout flight because they had forgotten about me for so long). They’ll do flights of your choice but not when it’s really busy, which is, like, often. So keep that in mind. Food was decent, filling. Lots of local brews on tap to try and free wi-fi, but don’t expect to be left alone in this place. It’s wall to wall people most of the time. |
80 Visited the Flying Saucer on a busy Friday evening. The bar is well located in central Downtown, so I dared to walk there! Inside is pretty large and bustling. I sat at the bar, as I was travelling solo. They have a monster tap list of some 80 beers. Even though it’s not on the menu you should go for the "build your own" flights - which gives you 5 small pours of whatever you want. I mostly drank Texan sours and goses, which is just what I was looking for. I also had food, which was surprisingly good. Staff were attentive and more than happy to offer a sample before making your choice. I actually visited here for the first time about 8yrs ago and think the selection has greatly improved, in - line with the Texan beer scene. Remains a top pick in Houston. |
82 Downtown in the dead downtown that is Houston. Didn’t expect much, but the Texas list was good and they had Lone Pint Yellow Rose, which was one I was looking for. This was the best craft beer place I found downtown. |
80 Large and loud, with a broad but standard selection. A few noteworthy things on tap and nice food. Cool place. |
80 Flying Saucer location in downtown Houston. Nice long bar with plenty of seating. Hipster vibe. I sat at the bar and had a couple of beers and an app. Service was prompt and friendly. Nice selection; well organized and laid out by style. Lots of local and regional beers on the list. Food was good. Worth visiting if you are staying in downtown Houston. |
82 Finally got to check this place out. Cool atmosphere, open, large building, interesting decor. Menu is well managed, with an up to date tap list. Extensive taps and bottle list. Had some interesting bottles, nothing super rare but still impressive for Houston. Food was good, especially the queso fondue. Prices were decent, nothing too overpriced. Will be back. |
