Gilden im Zims

Right on Heumarkt square. Nice spot, with the usual 1 beer on tap (€2.30 for 0.2L). Pleasant service. Not one of the better kolschs in town, but it was fine. Nothing special, but worth a stop when doing the rounds.

Visited during Christmas Market season. They had some outside tables and inside the place seemed pretty large. Staff were bustlingly busy, but within just a few minutes I had a beer. Prices are in line with everywhere else at 1.8 Euros per. I had one and left a 2 on the table. The beer itself was good, I thought, but they only have one to choose from, so low score on selection.

2017 rerate: Fucking useless staff, enforcing fucking stupid rules about who can sit where (in particular, when it's mostly empty), so giving service 3 rather than 6, and averaging above.
2015 review: Large fancy restaurant venue on the corner . Not exactly sure what corner, as the christmas market was out and it was hard knowing exactly where you are. Restaurant prices, but the two small meals we had were tasty, if a little fatty and salty. Koelsch was passable, but a bit uninteresting. Staff were mostly efficient in a restauranty kind of way. A pleasant venue, but not top priority apart from the tick.

Touristy spot in Altstadt. Large outside seating area. OK service. OK kölsch. A bit pricey.

Visited on Sunday 13th December 2015 during the evening on a whistle stop rateathon around the old town in Koln. It’s a nice place, modern but with wooden barrels dispensing kolsch. Not much of a selection which is the Koln thing, prices not too bad, got served quickly and was in and out. Good place to get the Gilden beer

Decent place in the centre of Cologne, right next to the Christmas market (at this time). Quite massive feel to it, but efficient and with attention to detail. Gilden Kölsch is not the most exciting example within the style, but it quenches the thirst.

Nice enough to make a small stop, maybe even have lunch, especially when with a larger group, but - truth be told - not really my kind of place, I prefer smaller and more quaint.

Its right opposite the exit of the parking at Heumarkt so its very convenient if you have a car. Big place, typical decoration for this kind of places. Visited on Sunday afternoon, we found a table at the back room. Beers were so and so (their Kolsch and a weiss beer), the service was good, except from the fact that they needed a lot of time to bring the food. Food was OK. Average prices

Big place on a corner of Heumarkt, large patio was absolutely packed at my visit, so I went inside for my serving. Busy but efficient and serviceminded personell, busy buzz all over the big place. Food looked delicious, but only beer for me, fresh and crisp, not the best but the ambience and buzz made it worthwhile. Beer direct on tap from a stationary barrel.

Nice place, more of a moden interior and feel with music playing. Service was extremely efficient and quite friendly. Usual small beer selection. Didn’t eat.
