78 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 17/20 RoyalFlushing (4) Mamaroneck, New York | September 8, 2012 Good selection on the menu, however, my first 3 choices on the menu were not available. Typical bar food that is edible, but nothing you would show up for without beer selection. Nice because local, but nothing too impessive. | 86 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 TurkeyBoy (3) , New York | March 7, 2012 Big fan of this place. Food is great, Burgers are top notch, you can’t go wrong with Lobster Mac N Cheese or Tequila Citrus wings. Beer selection is the best in the area, somewhere between 350 and 500 bottles depending on the time of year. Draft selection rotates constantly with a huge selection. They do some pretty nice events throughout the year and get in some pretty special beers from time to time. If you’re ever in White Plains definitely check it out. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 16/20 BrianJ1948 (3) | October 2, 2011 Good beer selection. Food adequate, not outstanding.
Parking a hassle. | 82 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Jow (93) New York | July 20, 2011 Went here for one of USA’s world cup matches sometime ago. great selection of beers on tap. i think i ordered three samplers that they had. the food was decent and it was a fun time indeed. ambiance is just ok though. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 DiarmaidBHK (523) Pennsylvania | May 5, 2011 Spent two very nice evenings at the Lazy Boy. They have a ton of taps and they’re all craft beer. This place is pretty much beer geek nirvana for Westchester County. I thought bar staff was attentive and personable. They had an extensive tap list as well as a rather large bottle list. They pizza was pretty solid as well. Compared to some of the other bars on the block, I appreciated the laid back vibe of the place and how they had music playing in the background but it wasn’t so loud that you couldn’t have a conversation. I’d definitely go back the next time I’m in the area. | 66 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 2/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 joebudzjoe (43) Connecticut | August 27, 2010 Located on a main street in White Plains. Good luck with finding parking. The ambiance inside is classic wood bar. Nothing fancy with a big bar, a few flat screen tvs, single access bathrooms and patio seating outside facing the main road.
Our server was terrible. We waited 15 minutes for our drink order even though the place wasn’t crowded. When we got our drinks our waitress never returned and we had to make our food orders at the bar. Me and my friend were debating whether our waitress was drunk or just plain stupid. I’m really hoping she just had a few drinks before work.
My friend ordered a burger and I ordered nachos. Both were ok, nothing special and nothing repulsive. The prices for food and beer is average for the area, but there are a few specials every day that are rather affordable.
Really the only thing going for this place is their amazing beer selection. Their tap selection is diverse and doesn’t boast a lot of redundancies. Also, a lot of brewers that I have not seen served much in the area (AleSmith, Cigar City, 21st Amendment, Goose Island to name a few). The beer is served in it’s appropriate glassware and temperature.
I wouldn’t go there ever again to dine because the service is terrible. If I were ever in the area again, I would just sit at the bar.
This place has the best selection in White Plains, but it’s not worth traveling for to. If you have a favorite beer bar in your town, stick with that one. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE N/A OVERALL 17/20 msante79 (335) Mount Prospect, Illinois | August 19, 2010 Decent sized bar with nice patio. Rock music jamming. Good looking bartenders. Great tap and bottle selection including CL Smoke from the Oak and Utopias. Cigar City, Captain Lawrence on tap and even an Alesmith cask. Had the pulled pork which was awesome. Within walking distance of hotel. Will definitely be back. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 14/20 basspro76 (16) New York | June 21, 2010 Nice wooden, old school west sort of vibe. Selection is great in both bottles and tap, and the bartenders all have a pretty solid beer knowledge. Food is slightly above average for bar food. Value is decent and fair. Crowd is very mixed, but mostly late 20’s early 30’s. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 Maltajo (36) Tucson, Arizona | April 20, 2009 This is a great place! Full of Taps! People and food! Great location in the heart of White Plains. Street parking nearby. Watch out for the man when you leave! White Plains is Brutal on DWI! | 76 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 Drink4Satan (29) Washington, Washington DC | January 10, 2009 The wall behind the bar is lined with beers from their bottle selection and there are plenty of taps lining the bar as well. The place has an old pub feel, minus the flat screen tv’s and outdoor seating during the summer months, which is really nice. The food is eclectic, creative and delicious, though deciding on what to have if difficult given the extensive menu. The beer list is tremendous and there are some rarities, including Captain Lawrence and some fresh-hop and cask-conditioned varieties on tap. For some reason, they’ve omitted sour ales from the list, which is beyond me. Some of the bartenders are knowledgeable, but much of the waitstaff have no interest or knowledge of craft beer. They are friendly and outgoing, which is their saving grace. I love this place and I stop in with friends and family whenever I’m in the area. Nobody in Westchester can top this place. |
