62 2016-05-28. Decor is sort of fun and funky with lampshades on the ceiling and views of the harbour. High ceilings make it feel a bit cavernous. Typical Mac’s tap list. Our server kind of disappeared on us, which was unfortunate since I wanted more mayo for my chicken sandwich. Fish and chips were decent and a large portion. Decent spot, but proximity to Te Papa is probably the the biggest selling point for craft beer geeks. |
70 A great place to people watch sitting outside on the waterfront. Decent selection of food and beer and reasonable service. |
50 Tourist trap serving bland beer. Wharf location gets a lot of foot traffic from visitors, the interior is large, high-ceilinged, wood-paneled, dressed up pub sort of feel. The setting would be nice if the beers weren’t all 2.5-level. In a town full of legitimate craft beer options, Mac’s is a pretender. |
68 Good place for taste some beers. Mac’s are not the best beers in NZ, but the pub is quite good and ambiance is nice.
Really good the 6 taste plate.
The best: Cascade Parade! |
74 Nice place to spend a sunny afternoon with a great location on the wharf. Small range of tasty beers, seasonals were available on tap. Food was good (but not cheap) and service was fine. Definately worth a visit. |
70 Amazing place on the wharf in Wellington. Great views and great ambiance. A good selection of their own stuff but thats about it. Good food and quick and easy service. Nice place |
66 I’m deducting a point from the ambiance because they no longer have a brewery at this "Brewbar". The equipment was all ripped out shipped to Canterbury for economies of scale. The service is above average for a standard bar (as opposed to specialty beer bar). Go for the seasonal brews, all the others can be had elsewhere. My last beer there was free thanks to a SOBA event so I’m adding a point for value! The waterfront location is great, especially on a sunny day. |
60 Located by the wharf, another Mac’s chain aimed for the tourist dollar. It’s not all bad though, the beers are OK and the food is pretty good for the standard pub fare. Ask for the seasonal if it’s available. |
