Nguyen Du Brauhof

Tired old place, with German-themed beer and food. Lots of smokers in the pub, so that was unpleasant. Three beers available: a helles, hef and dunkel, available in 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5L pours starting at about $2. Beer isn’t good; one was drinkable, the other not. Server was fairly rude and wouldn’t allow us samples. It’s close to everything else, so if you want the ticks, go for it. Otherwise, give this a miss.

A large German pub that has seen better days. The antique bikes are nice though. Bar is non functional so no point in sitting there. Dated, old and a few ticks.

A rather pleasant German Brewpub in the heart of the city. The outside airco free terrace seats about 30 people. Inside is much larger and they have a couple of vintage motorcycles too. They only had two of their beers when I visited one of which was ok. There is a good European bottled selection tho. Service and food and great. Solid wifi too. Well worth a visit.

3 types but the Weizen was out so they had a dark beer and a helles when I went. 31000 dong or so for 0.2L each. This place has a great terrace and lovely tropical vibe. Very atmospheric. Sat at the 1st floor bar and got served within 5 minutes. The beers were so so but it’s a nice looking place near Pasteur Street Brewing.

Not a bad little place in central HCMC. It has the usual Vietnamese offerings of a light, a dark and a red, all of which are reasonable. There is also a good range of German beer in bottles when looking for something different. The food is ok, but there are much better places to eat nearby.

Very disappointed with this place. Rubbish service, flavourless beers. Only nice thing is that you can sit in the courtyard.

Nice place with a nice terrace, which was of no use since they did not allow us to sit there for no reason. Poor selection of medium quality german-style beers. Not a place i would recommend

nice place. Best draught brews in HCMC. Nice atmosphere. Well worth the visit if you are in HCMC. 3 of their own draught beers and some German bottled beers

Had the dunkel and the weissbier on draft, both looked good, but ultimately disappointed as the flavour profile (Weissbier) and a weird funky aroma (dunkel) led me to think that they do not care anymore about making good quality beer, but are just living off the fact that they have beers that you normally can’t get in VN and therefore you should be grateful for that. I may be too harsh as I have since realized that they may not have a quality water source and it may be difficult to get good malt and hops given their geographical region. Service was abysmal though so no excuse for that.
