Pearl Street Grille and Brewery

Large open space with a couple different seating areas. Flights were available but the number of beers on tap seemed small. Well priced.

Nice brewpub after visiting canalside. Around 25 beers on tap, great selection. Really tasty too. Nice staff, great atmosphere, normal USA prices. Definitely coming back.

Large, multi-level place smack dab in downtown. I think they have different offerings at the different bars. Diverse tap list. Decent service. Food available. Quality varies. Nice vibe on a weekday afternoon.

This was recommended to me as one of the original craft beer places in Buffalo. Large brewpub and restaurant, close to downtown / theatre district. Lots of (own) beers on tap, was possible to do a huge sampler, the downside of which is that the portions (2oz of each beer) are just a but too small to fully appreciate each beer. Brews were solid, nothing too adventurous, best for me was the Trainwreck amber ale. Food was decent pub fare, we just had some wings and some onion rings. Prices were OK. Not a bad option if you are stuck in the downtown area.

The Pearl Street Grill is in a building which dates from 1841, when apparently this was a rough area of town with high crime rates. It’s now at the far end of the business district, almost within touching distance of the flyover and spaghetti junction at the Buffalo exit of the Niagara Thruway, and close to the end of the main street in the downtown area. The building has four storeys and iron balconies. The bar is on the ground floor and has a frontier feel, with slow moving fans driven by old fashioned belts. There are booths, bare brick walls and paintings depicting their regular beers plus a few pieces of brewery related paraphernalia such as barrels and a copper. There were perhaps twelve or fourteen beers on offer, none of them particularly exciting but perfectly drinkable. There’s also an extensive food menu and the food was good. I had sausage with sauerkraut and Chris had ribs. (Visited 4 November 2012).

A huge and very nice place right downtown. Lots of room, but more a dining place than a pub. Service was very good and whatever they couldn’t answer they found out. Lots of their own beers to try, unfortunately none that great. A very nice 10 beer sampler with just a few ounces each to tick away. Food was good, but nothing better than average pub fair. Prices were reasonable for a downtown restaurant. Although not bad, not likely I will head back.

Bartenders avoided making eye contact and it took forever to get served. Decent selection of their own beers. Many people getting the samplers of super mini beers which slowed the bartenders even more. Would like to try a few more beers and would give the service one more chance. Rerate - getting a table and food the service was fine and the food was fine. And the beer was decent, lots of choices. Bumping up.

Bustling and very lievely on an early Friday evening, and a good place to go to soak up the atmosphere. The beers themselves were rather hit and miss, with a few decent ones and many more mediocre ones.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon. 20 minute wait for a table. Nice open bar area separated by a wall of sorts from the dining area. Full flight of all their typical beers. Then a flight for all their seasonals. TV’s all round. Large room on the first floor then an additional area up stairs (I didn’t go up). Food was solid and plenty of it. Server was top notch and knowledgeable on the beers. All pretty solid beers. I would recommend this stop for anyone in the area. check out the ceiling fans. WIFI also available to the public.

Out of towner, just visited for a dinner and a few beers one Monday evening. Pretty typical brewpub setup, a little darker than I like. Food was good, a touch pricey. Elaborate belt/pulley system used to power the ceiling fans that I only noticed right before I left. Neat murals and rough 40s Walt Disney style illustrations of their house beers hanging on the brick walls. My waiter wasn’t incredibly knowledgable about their beers. They didn’t have a paper beer list, and their chalkboard listing wasn’t even up to date. Still, I’d come back again.
