Spec’s Liquor - Downtown (Houston)

I can't even describe how big this place is. Just the beer section is bigger than most liquor stores. Very well organized, had a bunch of stuff I had never seen, not just from the TX area but all over. I could have used a bigger mix a six area but that is my only complaint. This is a must see in Houston.

Large liquor store, good selection, generally helpful staff. Make your own 6 pack area. A bit disorganized and crowded in the beer section for such a large store. Prices are solid.

Pretty major league selection for a supermarket. More Alcohol than food. The place recommended by local masters.

grocery/liquor store combo. service was quite good. prices hit and miss. found a few bargains, but some items were more expensive than anywhere else i shopped.

Really nice selection compared to the other Spec’s I have visited around town. Lots of really nice offerings. Contrary to what the older ratings say, they DO have a wall of 12 oz singles, which is nice for travelers who don’t want to only buy bombers and 6 packs. Not everything is in 12 oz bottles, but the selection is better than most of the other places I’ve seen singles around Houston. I wish I stayed closer to here on my usual visits to the area. The Spec’s near Rice and the Galleria are not nearly as good.

Supermarket like setting. Huge selection of everything and not much help offered. Prices are decent but not as cheap as I would have expected. A good place in Houston, but not as great as I expected.

Big store with quite a selection of beers. The only draw back is that you can only buy beers in six pack. But they offer beers from various South American countries. Will certainly return.

What a great store. Awesome selection of beer, wine and liquor. Cigars, gourmet food. Massive store with full shelves. Rare scotch up to $12000 per bottle. The beer selection is a mix of domestic and imports. Unfortunately all 12 oz bottles are either 4 or 6 pack, no singles, but a good selection of 22 oz and 750 ml. Everything is well organized and easy to find. Staff is very friendly and very visible if you need anything.

Very nice selection of beers including an entire aisle of TX beers (if that’s your thing). The big negative is that they don’t do mix-and-match 6ers...

For the selection of beer and wine, this is probably THE PLACE to go. They have everything you could want.
