48 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 8/20 altonbrownd (197) Brussels, Belgium | November 19, 2012 An ornate bar of yesteryear, kind of a London meets Vienna feel to it. Clientelle is older and there for the food. Staff is friendly enough and I tried there housebeer which is okay. | 56 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 10/20 sic1314 (229) Leiden, Netherlands | October 7, 2012 Fairly generic looking attempt at an English theme pub, house beer was pretty awful. | 54 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 10/20 rotjoch (67) Antwerpen, Belgium | July 24, 2012 A Belgian pub serving real ale is a rarity. that’s about the only reason to visit this pub, but at the prices they charge, you are better of taking the train to England to have a drink :p | 36 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 5/10 SELECTION 6/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 3/10 OVERALL 5/20 baxterfish (141) , England | March 31, 2012 Contrived, expensive and pointless. The equivalent of ’Belgian’ cafes in London and fake Irish pubs the world over. If you want real ale go to Britain. There are far, far better places to drink beer in Antwerp. | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 12/20 77ships (41) Antwerpen, Belgium | February 5, 2012 If you are nearby, pretty much only reason to seek this one out is that they actually have a cask ale which brewed only for them which is nice, not bad but not astonish beer either. Future additions might be nice.
Same owner as Kelly’s & Bier Central which is not the best of things considering how quickly Bier Central became completely unbearable. Seemed more like an “ok”, slightly pretensions Belgian pub-style/UK restaurant to me than a pub or a bar – didn’t eat there but menu is quite extensive (restaurant size not bar with food size), wine-list is much, much longer than the beer list, no opinion about it since I know nothing about the wine but seemed a bit like they were trying to pass average wines as a high class ones but that is just an impression, I know zilch about wine.
The beer is few standard foreign macro’s you can get at any pub, handful beers which I have no idea what they were supposed to be since they had names like ‘kriek’ bar without brewery mentioned – appears like they added a 2 or 3 common UK stuff on the list now since my visit. | 52 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 5/10 OVERALL 10/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | December 18, 2011 British style pub only steps from the main train station. Food is typical pub fare. Beers are good enough. Basic service. Only come if you’re near the station. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 PieterJan (10) Oudenaarde, Belgium | December 14, 2011 WOW !!!
They have a real ale on tap ! the first time I see this in Belgium. We had also some food ... amazing, verry classy!
You have to see the interior, again amazing: a real classic london interior. This is the most beautiful place we saw during our visit in Antwerp; I even saw in Belgium. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 DV84 (5) , | December 11, 2011 Loved the real ale, plus great food | 62 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 8/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 13/20 BelgaBart (25) Antwerpen, BELGIUM, Belgium | November 30, 2011 This is from the same owners as Bier Central and Kelly’s Irish Pub, next door.
Aldo the athmosphere and decor was much beter. On general for a pint of beer you pay 5,00 EUR, what the standard is on De Keyserlei.
Did like the English pints, though.
General ok bar, friendlier service than Bier Central and Kelly’s.
There now going to instal there own brewing system so in the future this is going to be a brewpub (All English type of Ales) |
