A small, run-down looking gas station with a decent craft beer selection. Disappointingly, it’s all pretty much the standard stuff, and there’s nothing local. Oh well, it was the cheapest gas I’ve seen anywhere lately.

Odd store. It’s basically a standard (at least for Texas) drive-thru liquor store that surprisingly stocks items like Avery Mephistopheles and Big Eddy. Respectable.

This place has the best selection of brews in San Marcos. That having been said, it is still limited compared to big city places, but it is great for what it is. When I lived in San Marcos I was there regularly. Prices were steep but I guess you can get away with it when no other places in town offer an impressive selection.

Best beer selection around. I love the fact I can make my own six pack or buy single beers, I have never found another beer store like it. The customer service is great. The gas customers are rude so avoid the mad rush of them just after work time. Local Businesses like this store should be appreciated. they have over 300 beers in stock and the selection ranges from local (austin) brewers to places from around the world, who would have thought a beer from the phillipines could be so good, (san miguel dark lager) I recommend this store to anyone looking for good beer and friendly staff who love their jobs. a rare combination indeed

If I lived in San Marcos I would probably buy my beer here as it has a good selection of beer for the town. The beers are a little pricey but you can tell the owner is trying to have a broad selection and probably switches it up. The owner is very passionate about beer & takes orders on cases. I thought they were very nice & had great service. Kind of a rockers place, not really a place I can see uptight snobby people going to.

Awesomely wonderful place. Very impressive selection for a gas station. Belgians, barleywines, double IPAs, even an occasional hard-to-find. The owner is a beer lover, so it’s a great experience. The service is great. They have an orphaned beer section and you can make your own six packs... I’d like to see any other gas station pull that off. They also do mystery six packs, brown-bagged mixes of 12oz bottles they put together. Friendly clientelle, as well as staff. I’m surprised I’ve gone this long without knowing about the store. It’s going to be one of my frequent stops from now on.

This store makes living in San Marcos possible. They gave me great advice on what good beer should taste like..and they were dead on. The staff tries hard to make every purchase a fun experience..I give them big props for dealing with all the fratty assholes who buy shitty beer and the hobo types who bring pennies in for 32oz beers all day. Super cheap gas,and great beers makes it worth the trip in to town. Stop in and support this store..the managers try really hard to make this place float and without them there would be no beer around.

I agree with saber. These guys have gone downhill since the fire. They are rude, indifferent to their customers (the source of their money, coincidentally), etc. I could go on! First of all, their parking situation flat out sucks! Then, the last time I was there, three weeks ago, there was a guy complaining that he had placed an order several times and left his number and stuff and never got called. Either through a remarkable coincidence that was saber, or it is happening to other people. By the way, their solution to this problem was for him to ask the same guy AGAIN, who hadn’t helped him yet. He DID ask if he could deal with someone else. They didn’t seem to give much of a damn about him. Just seeing that was the last straw for me, and I haven’t been back since. Avoid these been counters! There are new choices that weren’t around before the fire.

Since re-opening after the fire, the store looks great! Better than ever. It is clean, organized, and easy to get around. Unfortunately, the fire also destroyed their previously good level of customer service. It has been three months since re-opening, and after giving them my request on day one, and at least every other week since, as well as leaving my name and number at least four times, they called ONLY once (after I complained to a different person than the one I had been dealing with). They have made nothing but empty promises time and again. I found another retailer who has the beer in stock and has made a verbal contract with me to have a case a week for me to purchase. Shopping for beer should NEVER be this stressful or dissapointing! They’ve lost my business forever, and I will make sure everyone else knows about how little this new and improved store really views their loyal customers.

It’s a rock and roll beer store that almost looks like a gas station. There is more beer there than anywhere else in that part of Texas. Chances are, if you go in there and buy something sorry then the employees may very well let you know that your taste in beer sucks. It’s not the Burger King have it your way kind of store because there the customers are not always right and the employees let them know. Seasonals are always coming through there and the beer stock is always revolving from American Pale Ales to Russian Imperial Stouts it’s all there. The only thing I don’t like about the Yellow Store is that Budweiser and Miller obviously bribed the owners or something because there is a bunch of their artwork covering their walls. Anyway, they know their beer and it’s always worth the trip.
