64 In the heart of downtown Berkeley, this place has been around a while and feels it. The interior has a somewhat tired feel, but otherwise is frendly and inviting. Flights of 5 available for $13.50 plus tax, about standard for around here. Lots of west coast hoppy beers on draft, which I appreciated. Most beers were dialled in well, but nothing was a standout. If in the heart of Berkeley, it might be worth a stop, but is otherwise not worth a special trip. |
76 Good service, great location, pretty good beers. It's a bit too spacious for it's own good, but the atmosphere is decent nevertheless. Worth visiting. |
72 It's fine. I had a 10-beer sampler. Service good. Quiet during the day. TVs on. Two large rooms. hardcopy menu wasn't up to date. Menu on the wall also correct, though. Lock Stock lager - bitter. Petit Resistance Belgian Ale - typical. Specifically Pacifica Pale Ale - meh. Nectarine Ballroom - too bitter. Ipax - way too bitter. More Mild Than Bitter - nice mild, pleasant. Her Majesty's Crush Old Ale - nice. Spartan Joe Oatmeal Stout - bit roasty, not sweet. Pinnacle Pale Ale - no. Zwickeler German Porter - bit charred and touch bitter. Overall, not a big fan of their beers, but they are artisanal. Just not my bag. The lighter ales were cloudy and flavorful. |
82 This brewpub is divided in two big rooms, one with the bar and some tables and one even bigger with tables and some tv monitors. I liked the ambiance of the first room, English pub style with dark wood. We had almost all their beers in flights, I think we didnt have the best ones :D Food was very good. Good prices and very good service. I would go again. |
80 Fairly busy on a Monday night. Had a burger and a flight. Decent beers and decent prices. Think 13 of their beers on tap. Some guest taps. Nice place to visit. |
86 Been here a few times. Happen to live close by, they just added a new section which doubled the size of the place. Food is good. The beer selection is good. The service was decent. With the new changes to the place, the ambiance is a lot better. Plenty of TV’s. Will recommend to my friends. I’m sure I’ll be back! |
74 Sort of a classic place, the weekly Monkey Head event is one of the few times I would go for bottled beer at a bar. |
74 Visited on a busy Friday night in November 2015. Got a couple of seats at the bar then ploughed our way through a taster flight and had a coupler of samplers added onto the end to try all the beers available. Service was good, prices decent. A nice vibe to the place. I’d go back. |
70 Good place - not quite a standout, but an enjoyable afternoon all around. Good beer, good peeps. |
78 Had a nice lunch and some flight beers at this place. Flight samples were $2 each (no minimum or maximum). The waiter was also into craft beer and willing to discuss the craft beer scene. I might add that this was right when they opened and he didn’t have any other tables so it might be a different story on a Friday night. Solid beers, especially the IPAX IPA and the Stonehenge stout. |
