I’ve been to a lot of Whole Foods locations in a great many states, and I have to say this is up there in terms of beer selection - lots of local brews in bottles and on draft, with a handful of interesting locals on tap - certainly the best selection I could find in the downtown area, which is mostly focused on the young crowd looking to get drunk on cheep booze along 6th street - not much to say about ambiance - if you’ve been in one Whole Foods you’ve been in them all - if you’re staying downtown, this is where you should be coming to buy beer.

Quick stop before going to Holdout Brewing. Mostly 4 and 6 packs with decent selection of singles. Wouldn't expect anything too special.

Excellent selection in a central location, although it's a pain in the ass the park. The tap list was varied and they did offer a few gems. Right near the original whole foods.

Least impressive beer seelction of any WF I’ve been to, I think. Few regular rows of shelving with a selection of 6 packs with few if any singles to chose from. Reasonably few bombers. Just didn’t do it for me.

(Store) the walk in beer cave is apparently gone, replaced by conventional arrangement of refrigerators. Very good selection of mostly local and regional beers, decent choice of out of state (CA, MI, CO, OR and others), sprinkling of Belgian, German, and British bottles. Beer prices are average. Have not tried the bar area yet.

This rating is just for the store. Typical whole foods layout. Lots of bottles and singles to choose from, focus on local and regional crafts. Decent internationals as well.

Rerate Visited here again after a 10 year break. The Beer Cave has really picked up, hundreds of singles to choose from and they have added a bar with about 8 or so taps and plenty of lively conversation. Great to revisit again. Original 74 Visited again While working in Austin for a few months, this is my weekly visit to stock up for the week. They have a good selection of locals, a few western micros and a great selection of Belgians- rough guess about 50 different ones in the cooler. Don’t just look in the cooler, turn around, over by the wine is a shelf with about 20 Belgians, mostly in 750 ml bottles. Also have sake’, meads and ciders. The take out food is pretty good in the deli and the service is quick and friendly and very "earthy".

This is the original Whole Foods and it is massive. They have a bar inside so you can drink some brews and shop. I love the Whole Foods with that feature. The beer is almost exclusively kept in a walk in cooler, which is another big plus. I only went to one other bottle shop in Austin, so I’m not sure how the selection measures up to the rest of the city. But it had more than adequate selection of local, regional and import stuff. Prices are great, but I think that’s just Texas in general. This is right downtown, so that’s another bonus.

Flagship Whole Foods store in Austin. Huge place, kind of tough to navigate the parking lot. Staff was friendly but didn’t know much. Solid selection but most of it is in a cooler, which I didn’t need because I was traveling with it. Prices for beer were fair but everything else is overpriced. I guess it’s worth a stop for bottles but I’d rather go to Whip In if possible.

This is a pretty good spot, and it’s nice that they have a walk in cooler in the middle of the room. The selection is ok, mostly 6 packs, handful of bombers. I don’t know, there are a lot better whole foods than this one, and I don’t want to drink a pint sitting in the middle of a grocery store. I don’t get the feeling there is anything better downtown though.
