66 Now "Shine Restaurant & Gathering Place" but still brewing. Hippyish yet cool, eight of their own beers on ranging from OK to pretty good. Take-aways too. |
60 Stop #2 with Mike on the Boulder brewpub tour. This place gave off sort of an interesting vibe. Can’t quite describe it. Sat at the bar, but there seemed to be a back area to the brewpub as well as some bar seating in the front. Ordered a set of all of their beers, which were very hit or miss. A beer or two that was decent and a bunch of duds, the gluten free beer being the worst. The service was alright, but seemed sort of disinterested. Probably wouldn’t return. |

So currently this is Shine. On Ratebeer there was another location in the same address marked as still open. Upon searching online for this place I found at least four places with the same address that have presumably gone under or sold out. Shine, Redfish, Colorado Brewing, Boulder Draft House, which is it? Kind of a weird set up. I sat up front at the bar but walked around the building to see the different rooms including the large room with the really loud music playing and a couple of people dancing. Had a long conversation with the bartender about beer and he ended up pouring a couple of free tastes. I enjoyed myself here but the beer does need some work. Actually, the IPA was nice. |
66 Second try. First one during a busy time at the community table resulted in ridiculously poor and nonexistent service. This time around was during a less busy time and received good experience from a friendly waiter. Half the beers were good and half were incredibly poor. Food was good but expensive and in small amounts. Shitters: B+ |
50 same layout as the now-extinct Drafthouse and Los Oasis, and apparently they retained the same brewer from those two operations as well. happy hour plates were decent; they specialize in gluten-free foods and I was happy enough that the menu didn’t appear to be too unconventional. 5-6 beers on tap: Imperial Red, IPA, Pale Ale, Czech-style Pils, Imperial Stout (8.5%) and Gluten-Free, all of average quality. |
