Visited on a trip to Portland back in 2013 (from notes). A quick trip outside of Portland by car. It was called the Lion’s Pride when we had originally visited. We were there over lunch with one bartender that got quite busy which made the service less than desirable at times. The draft list was outstanding with locals and just good beers in general. The bottle list was quite extensive as well. Our food was decent but nothing special just some typical pub like fare. The beer and food prices were reasonable but overall not place I would go seeking out. That being said, it was much better experience than the one we had at its sister bar Ebenezer’s Kezars the following day. Worth the visit if you are going this way but not for the special occasion.

Very nice atmosphere, excellent beer list, great service, good food - these were the impressions of my first visit. Beers are very well-presented, although glass sizes are small, esp. considering the prices. I’ll be going back. UPDATE 1/7/14 My comments echo those of TheBeerBabe. I’m going to drop down my rating.

Visited with Andrew during the weekend of The Festival 2013. Nice draft selection and an incredible bottle list. Had a couple cantillons and some fresh IPAs on draft. Good service.

Stopped here with my wife on the way from Portland to Bar Harbor for a few days. It was a lazy Sunday afternoon and we had the place mostly to ourselves. The taplist is impressive and the bartender was more than happy to chat about anything up there and did seem quite knowledgeable. We also ordered lunch and it was good stuff, elevated pub fare, well priced. Certainly worth a stop. And yes, the tap handles are rather beautiful.

Not quite as amazing as Ebenezer Kezar’s but this place is fixing up to be much better as they are currently in the process of installing brewing equipment. Tap list much like Ebenezer’s but only half of them were working when I was in because they were rerouting them for their soon-to-come house brews. Bottle list is stunning, like Ebenezer’s. Ambiance isn’t quite as homey but then I was in on a Sunday night so there were few people there.

Two rooms, one with an L-shaped bar, Belgian kitsch on the walls. 34 interesting taps, heavy on the Belgian stuff, with only a few local choices. No bottle list, but you can check the fridge for what’s there. Server was pleasant, but knew nothing about the beers. Food was OK. Ample parking. More of a restaurant than a beer bar. Decent enough, but not worth going too far out of your way to try.

Updated my review as most of the enthusiastic and knowledgable staff are no longer there. Maybe it’s when I come in, but I feel like there’s a little dull to the sparkle that used to be there. Still a good tap selection, and pretty good food, but I’m not as excited to go there any more as I once was.

Stopped in for dinner on 7/2/13. Nice place with a vast selection on tap and in bottles. Good selection of burgers with beer-inspired names like Pliny the Burger. Service was great.

Location isn’t "sexy", but at least it was at a walking distance from our hotel! Inside, it’s beautiful and the ambiance is good. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The even served me a free glass of Alvinne Wild Undressed that was poured by mistake for another client. Draft selection was pretty good, including St-Bon-Chien 2009 aqnd BCBS. Bottle selection was good. Price where hight, but less than at Ebenezer’s. Food was good, but not great. Overall, this is a nice place that I would recommend and I will return if I’m in the area.

I was thoroughly unimpressed with The Lion’s Pride. The location is essentially a strip mall, and the decor some random Belgian beer paintings and breweriana. The beer selection is good but not great, nor anything not available regionally. The food was good but not cooked entirely to order (burger was medium-well not medium, for instance). Our server did not know anything about the beer, and I had to point out the Oerbier Reserva for her in the fridge following the "what beer is that" question.
