84 You’ll find something good to eat that’s well prepared. Plenty of thought into the beverage to complete the meal and wash it down as they say. |
74 Updated interior, right in town. Tap list offers a bit of everything, in several pour options. Food available. U-shaped bar offers plenty of seating. |
76 Went for Terrapin event during CBC 2016; 4 May 2016. Bright space with a bar in the middle and a cool pub. About 20ish taps and mostly cool beers from near and far. They had Terrapin, Wicked Weed, Tired Hands, Coppertail, and a few others that were probably just on for the conference. Food was very good. Had a very nice tofu banh mi sandwich and local cheese and pickle plate. Nice food - urban pub meets old world beer hall. Enjoyable place. |
70 Hip spot located near some other beer destinations in Fishtown. Exposed brick and loads of iron work lends a semi-industrial vibe. The large U-shaped central bar sort of dominates the place. The tap list was decent. Roughly 50% localish stuff with a smattering of bigger national craft players thrown in. Unfortunately a lot of beer from the area’s pretty hit-and-miss, so definitely try before you buy. Service was totally adequate. Prices weren’t exactly cheap. Overall, I’ll definitely visit again. |
86 Visited on Black Friday in the afternoon. KBS had kicked but the rest of the line-up was still on tap and it was a great place. Able to walk right in and get a table for 5 people although when we left closer to dinner time it there was a wait for a table. Obviously the beer selection was pretty great considering the special Black Friday event but I can only rate based on what I drank (and it was great); the food was surprsingly delicious, probably considering I had no expectations, and the atmosphere was both interesting and unique (love the giant saw above the bar). Prices were reasonable even for BCBS on tap and the food was also fairly decent. The staff were very attentive even as it got busier later in the afternoon. Its an easy cab or public transit ride away from downtown and if you want to explore "northeast" downtown Philly this is a good place to start. |
80 Went here on a Thursday night--man, it was pretty busy, although we only waited 10 minutes for a table. I really liked the ambiance - it’s a renovated corner tavern, and they’ve done a very nice job with it, incorporating wrenches in the decor, etc. The service was quick and helpful, although the guy seemed pretty baffled explaining a baltic porter to me. The selection was good, with some rotating taps and interesting choices. The food was very good, and reasonably priced overall. Overall a great choice in Fishtown! |
72 Nice local spot in a residential neighborhood. Huge U-shaped bar with plenty of taps (Pliny the Elder until about twenty minutes before we walked in, unfortunately), but could use more local stuff. Friendly staff. Worth a look. Easy walk from the train station. |
84 Great selection, with some good food and service. |
92 One of the best beer bars in Philadelphia. Huge selection. They constantly let you know what’s coming up on which taps, which is a detail you don’t often see. This also shows that they plan their beer selections as well. Food is amazing at a decent price. |
80 Ive been here a handful of times but finally getting around to the rate. Open, one room bar. Bar is a U shape in the middle of the room with tables around the perimeter. Outside seating is also available. Barkeepers tend to be friendly and quick when you need a refill, which is nice. I’ve had the burger and it is top-notch, though I’m not a fan of the fries (never been a fan of shoestring fries). Always a few taps that aren’t anywhere else local and generally at least one or two I’ve never seen. they play the tunes a bit loud but that’s to be expected at this hipster hangout. You’ll see a couple guys trying to read a book amidst the loud music and crowd nice because they are too cool. Good place. |
