74 I’ve been going to the K&K since I first moved to Tacoma in 2006. I usually hit it once every 2-3 months, more often during RWC or Super Rugby season. They’ve now moved from Aurora/Greenlake to NW Market/Ballard. With the move (into a former library, always a good location for a pub IME), comes more space, more parking options, a patio, a real kitchen and more handles. They’ve used the extra handles to expand their local craft beer options, which is all for the better. Beer knowledge isn’t great among the staff, but that’s to be expected given the Antipodean flavor of the place. Food is now very good (on Aurora it was pretty dire and a hazard to the coronary circulation) and service remains cheerful. The outdoor seating is great for the summer time, limited as it is in the PNW. While there are better choices in Ballard alone for craft beer lovers, the fact that the rugby is always available on at least one screen makes the K&K a favorite. |
70 Decent food and beer lineup in a sports bar environment. Good location, crummy parking. Bar staff are friendly whenever I’ve been in. |
80 Great place to kick back and attempt to act like an Aussie from the outback. They’ve got meat pies, sausage rolls, and all the lollies that the folks from down unda’ tend to crave. Toohey’s New and Cooper’s headline the bottled beer list although several interesting and local beers can be found on tap. It’s also the only place in Seattle to catch the AFL and regularly scheduled cricket. |
