“Right – DISREGARD ALL PREVIOUS REVIEWS. Following the untimely demise of the previous proprietor this place was closed for two years (during which time Covid happened). It has since reopened, as a similar sort of venue, but refurbished and more upmarket. The RB map isn’t quite correct. It is located literally on the corner of Crewe Road and Station Road (which confusingly doesn’t actually reach the station, just heads in that general direction). There are still the two separate rooms, but I only investigated the one on the left from the front door. That is done out in a very airy style, grey green to waist level and white above. A few old pictures on the walls. Plush patterned seating round small tables. The wooden bar is immediately on the right as you enter, and diametrically opposite there is a small real fire. The other room has a bar as well, but the beers are not the same. Luckily the full list is shown on a TV screen above the entrance. In total there are normally 8 real ales 4 real ciders, and 5 craft keg taps. The real ales have Bass and Citra as permanent. On my visit the other beers included Tatton, Holdens and Cloudwater. Craft taps included two from Thornbridge. The only food is ginormous pork pies. Feel I have to comment about the bar staff too. The space behind the beers is only small, and at one stage during my visit there were no less than 6 people there – serving nobody ! Standing around looking clueless and they didn’t seem to have much idea about what beers they had either ! This is probably the most beer orientated place in Alsager. The beer quality is decent, but you get the feeling they are trading on past glories. Note doesn’t open until 3pm. “

“Firstly – DISREGARD THE PREVIOUS REVIEW. That relates to when the place was Kraftwerks, a previous venture in the same premises. This is a pretty generic craft beer bar in what passes for the centre of Alsager. Head down the road from the station and it’s on the left just before the traffic lights. There are a few tables outside. Inside the bar counter takes up most of the available space – down the right hand side of the shop. There’s some tables just by the entrance, and some stools at the bar, but that’s about it. And the décor is basically all over black ! Pretty dark everywhere making the lights in the taps shine brightly. Down the left hand wall there is an enormous board showing what the 12 beers are on tap. From memory, there was nothing wildly exciting a couple of Pollys, a couple from Shiny, a couple of German lagers, a fruit beer. I had a stout which I think was the only dark beer available. Noteably there were no ciders at all. Behind there bar there was a huge range of gins, and on shelves to the side a (smaller) range of whiskies. You’ll probably find a tick or two here, but the whole vibe is definitely negative. Note the restricted opening hours. “

“Bod is the generic name for a series of café bars run by Titanic Brewery. This new (August 2022) one is the first in Cheshire. It is situated on the main road from Alsager to Crewe, close to the Mere. The main entrance is a few steps up from the street. Turn right to get to the bar. The food ordering point is to the left of it. Lots of exposed overhead pipework gives the place an industrial feel. There’s a couple of high tables with stools in an alcove by the bar, and a few tables dotted around. Most seating however, is in a glass roofed extension with wooden flooring which is now behind you. Adjacent to the extension is some open air decking, that as adjacent to the main road. There are five handpumps on the bar, but on my visit only four were in use. Three of these were serving Titanic beers, and the fourth Everards Old Original (very nice). I am told the Titanic and Everards beers do change, but I suspect that Plum Porter is a regular. The firth pump is used for occasional guests. There is also a range of about 10 craft taps behind the bar, but they are pretty mainstream ones. Food is an extensive breakfast menu plus lunchtime a small range of “mains” and ciabattas, wraps and sandwiches. I’ve not tried the food yet, but it looks good (though not cheap). Overall, it’s not a somewhere to expect a tick, but it is about the only place in Alsager that is open all day every day. [ Most other places don’t open until 2pm or later – even on a Saturday ! ] “

“The local Joule’s pub, and one of the better pubs in the town. Located on the south side of the main Crewe- Kidsgrove road, to the west of the traffic lights in the town centre. Pretty much a typical Joules pub really. Lots of pale wooden panelling with humorous signs regarding their beer. From the entrance, the bar is ahead to the left. From there he pub spreads out into several small rooms, pretty much identical to each other. There is even a small function room featuring a large round table. There are five handpumps, three of which serve the Joule’s “core” range, one their monthly special, and the last one either another Joule’s beer or a guest. Joule’s “craft” beers and macro lagers are also available. Beer quality usually pretty decent. There used to be food available, but that doesn’t appear to be the case any more. Occasional live music. Decent pub, but nothing special – worth visiting if you don’t have a Joule’s pub where you live. “

“Visited on 27th November 2017. About 10 mins walk from the station sits this lovely old 2 roomed boozer. Bar sits centrally, nice decor and a real fire roaring away. Popular with locals on a Monday night. 7 cask beers on including one from Goodall's. Other 6 a mix of local with an Oakham and Dark Star as well. Quality was good. There is also 6 or so keg beers with Kernel, Fyne and Beavertowm from the UK plus some Belgian fruity shizzle. Service friendly and prices reasonable. A great example of how a pub should be. Recommended.“

“You know those modern pubs that spend lots of time and money trying to recreate that worn, bleached, wooden interior look? Well here’s a place that doesn’t need to bother as it has looked that way since time began; add a sprinkling of locals who give the impression that they are permanent residents, some good beer, and friendly staff; and you have everything a small town pub should be.Unfortunately there weren’t any Goodall’s beers on when I was there, but there was quite a mix from far and near to avoid too much disappointment. Well worth seeking this place out.“
