74 /100 198 AMBRIAR PLZ I made my second stop in at Loose Shoe today, the last about a year and a half ago or so. The place is in the back side in a strip mall. The inside tap room is nicely done and cozy. They just got crowlers. 11 beers on tap, 10 of which I needed to try. All good to good+ and service was very friendly (both times I visited). Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area. |
72 /100 198 AMBRIAR PLZ I love to see that places like this are popping up all over the place. In a relatively small community that’s not really very close to even a middle-sized city, here we have a small tasting room in a small strip mall. They have a small patio out back, and we could walk our dog around the back of the building and squeeze her thru the fence to hang with us. The bartender even brought us an umbrella. They had about 6 or 7 beers available, and we tried a couple. Both were OK, cleanly made and without technical fault. They didn’t really knock our socks off, either, but I’d say stop by if you’re ever passing thru middle Virginia. Outside food is welcomed. Brewery #742. |
78 /100 198 AMBRIAR PLZ Interesting little place in a mall area that does not overall seem very busy. I was the only customer for most of my visit. Horse-themed brewery (Loose Shoe - get it?) run by a husband and wife team. Husband is the brewer, wife seems to handle the customer stuff. Very friendly and happy to talk about their beers. Plenty of lagers, and many proudly not brewed to any established style. I did the full flight of six, which was ridiculously cheap, and set in. Of the six four were pretty Meh, two were quite solid. All in all a nice place, nice decor, nice owners. I wish them well. |
