68 /100 Violet Lounge Bar (Bar) KULMANOVA STREET 117 Live music bar serving very god food. four taps, two serving European beers, the other two have Osterbrau Pils filtered and unfiltered, this beer is brewed in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, an ok pilsener the unfiltered has the edge on the filtered. Very good service. |
84 /100 12A 4TH MICRODISTRICT AVANGARD Large brew pub set on two floors, four beers brewed to the rear of the premises. Light filtered beer 4.6%, A good lager style beer with slight hop character, Unfiltered Wheat Beer 4.5%, Platinum Unfiltered 4.8% had a nice malt flavour with subtle bitterness ,Dark Unfiltered 5% A Chestnut coloured beer with an excellent caramel taste and slightly burnt aromas, I personally thought this beer was exceptional. Food is standard Kazakh fare, the Sturgeon Shashlik is very good, service is the best I’ve encountered in Kazakhstan. A must visit if in Atyrau. |
68 /100 Prime Pub (Bar) AZATTYK 69 Large pub hosting live music, six beers on tap, all standard European ( Guinness, Hoegaarden, Efes,London Pride! ) except for Prime Dark which is a very good dark lager brewed in Astana. Very good service.
Excellent Basturma. |
68 /100 Ramstore (Grocery Store) 17A SATPAEV STREET Fairly large store in the Ramstore chain located within another shopping complex. Good range of Kazakh and Russian beers with a couple of rarities plus some European stuff. Vobla, Chechil and other beer related snacks also available. |
74 /100 KURMANGAZY 12 Large multi roomed brew pub (Brewing since 2012) brewing four beers...Classic (A German Style Pils) White, Stout and ’Schnaffer’ (Described by the bar tender as a Dutch style Lager)
The Classic is a good example of a nice crisp Pils and the Stout quite sweet and like an English Milk Stout. The Schnaffer seemed to be a maltier version of the Classic, the white wasn’t sampled.
Food is a mix of Kazakh and Western, the list of beer snacks is good and the Vobla very good and well presented. Service was a little slow and they weren’t that busy. You may get a look at the brewery if they are quiet and you ask in your best Russian but photos were not allowed... |
