The beer selection is good and contains some very rare local beer. The service is very welcoming and serviceminded. In summer there is outside seating area on the quite pedestrian street. Inside is dark, cozy, and cave-like, the interior is kept in dark wood and bordeaux wallpaper and material, and black leather, even the carpet is a dark red. Prices are a bit expensive - 65 DKK for a half litre bottle.“ |

The staff is friendly and one of the waiters knows their beers. Selection is not especially interesting but occasionally you might get lucky and find one or maybe even two bottled beers that you have not tasted before. Food is standard Danish food and you’ll get it at a fair price.“ |

Also a few (micro) brews brewed specially for irma. furthermore a decent selction of danish microbreweries and the usual suspects foreign breweries.
this irma : located conveniently about 400 metres from the train station and 100 metres from the superbrugsen, 100 metres from proppen. they have some seasonals that i haven’t found in kvickly. Beer placement in shop has changed and now they have a 3-4mtr shelf dedicated to micro and foreign. often good offers. do be aware of dates, i got a brooklyn weisse that was 1 month past its date. Probably #2 beer supermarket in birkerød, where superbrugsen almost next door is #1.“ |

This superbrugsen has a wide selection of not that many brewers, but from time to time some quite good offers. It seems like they try to concentrate on scandinavian micro, and has added a few of the wellknown internationals to that mix. nøgne ø, rise , ølfabrikken, guromet bryggeriet etc. are all there. They take seasonals serious and the selection grows like 40% when it’s seasonals time.“ |
| 60 /100 Proppen (Bar) HOVEDGADEN 27 “Their selection of beers ON DISPLAY is not that large, i’d say 40 different kinds, but their selection is actually 70+ beers, so grab a beer menu to get an idea of all that is available. Seems like the bar is trying to not look like an all-out beer geek heaven, to cater for their more usual customers. A look at the website and menus confirm that they do have a large selection of both beer and drinks.
i was disappointed to find very few beers on tap, and only two special beers.
Prices are fair, and the place is non-smoker, which is a big plus. You can also read the latest beer enthusiast magazine for free (even take it with you).
I didn’t try the food, it looked like traditional rather uninspired danish lunch stuff. I guess if you like that kind of food, it is good enough.
The owner is not very well versed with beer (for a beerpub), but the other guy working there knows a lot about beers, especially locally brewed ones.
The other day they had ratebeer#1 beer on sale, and they knew what they had gotten their hands on. Makes you want to stick around when they do things like that.
the music is not loud (good) and the clientele is a little upscale, you can easily get an interesting conversation going. The bums tend to hang out in other places in birkerød“ |
| 36 /100 Proppen (Bar) HOVEDGADEN 27 “The place is rather small but still nice. Good selection of bottled beers (Check date!). Draught some ok but mainly boring macro. There used to be too much smoke in the place. But thankfully to the new smoking law it is not allowed to smoke there any more making the beer drinking time more enjoyable. I got served served an Samuel Adams Boston Ale, 2 years past date, which did not taste good. The tender said it was fine and could be lagered with no problems. I very much disagreed but did not get any new beer. Last time I went there....................“ |
