“Took a bus all the way out here from San Jose only for the woman there to tell me they didn’t sell beer less than flats of 24, didn’t pour samples even though I told her I came all the way to Cartago to try the beer and only allowed tastings during pre-organized tours. No idea of how one would get on one of these so-called tours. Place looked uneventful, and the only useful thing about the two hours I spent getting here and back was the menu she handed me about which bars in San Jose carried their products, which in the interest of saving everyone else’s time are the following: Craic Irish Pub, Mac’s American bar, Stan’s Irish Pub, Cafe de los deseos, sportsmen’s lodge and Go fish. In any case the only bottles you can buy there are Segua and libertas. They had more interesting brews on the board but only sold them in kegs. Finally the woman told me if I wanted to try the beer I’d have to walk a km back to the main road and try it at the Quijonga restaurant across from the gas station on the main road. I probably should have phoned before going but who would have thought? The woman said they didn’t have a liquor license, so unless it’s part of a tour, they can’t sell beer (or I suppose even give tasters). I wouldn’t recommend - not sure what the tour would really consist of either as the place wasn’t too pretty and in the middle of an ugly industrial zone.“

“Worth the detour for beer geeks who find themselves in Costa Rica. Tours are possible, but odds are you’ve seen a brewery kit before. The treat is tasting the beers at the bar, including the two regulars Segua and Libertas, seasonals and the occasional pilot-batch experiment, and asking the equipo about craft beer’s small but growing place in Costa Rica. Comfy couch and a coffee table to help you feel at home. Bottled beers and schwag for sale, if pricey. If you get hungry, the cowboy bar next door has the bottled beers and adequately greasy cheeseburgers.“

“production brewery with a couch area and a table, welcoming visitors with samples and pints for sale. five draft beer during my visit, consisting of the two stables, red and golden ale, as well as the cas wheat, pale ale and IPA. a gem in the beer desert known as Costa Rica.“
