30 /100 WESTERN CONCOURSE, BRIGHTON MARINA 7
“Estate type eatery pub, the first place you see when walking along the coast path from Rottingdean. It's barn like, huge JDW clone. Advertises that it sells Sussex Ales but the only beer available, unless you are into macro keg, was London Pride on my visit. Dog friendly, nice outdoor seating.“

“We (me, Loz, Lynn and Barry) visited here Saturday 20th January 2018. We were staying in one of the apartments next door. West Quay is located in the Marina Complex, which is a mish mash of big chain shops, chain restaurants a large Asda and the marina itself it's all ok but if truth be told it all looks a bit false and you get the impression it will date fairly soon. This Wethespoons is on the edge of the Marina flanked with restaurants off either side.

It appears to be a dog leg shape and whilst a little lighter and airy than some where it looks out to the marina and boats it still effortlessly seems to maintain a gloomy interior. It was really quite busy when we arrived for breakfast at about 09:30-10:00. There was a very loud angry oriental chap on a table a few feet away who seemed in a foul mood. Loz and Lynn ordered the breakfasts and then assisted a lady who fell over whilst carrying her teas back to the table, they said no staff came to help and I guess that is typical of many JDWs, staff don't care, they are often scruffy (we had to clear our table of dirty plates) and sadly some of the folk who use them are quite obnoxious.

I have to say we didn't like this place. It was early so we didn't have a beer but the beer range looked ok with a new tiny Brighton brewery who aren't even on this site and called something like Loud Shirt, I think their website suggested that they only make 100 litres a week. If you are just after a breakfast then for a little bit more Coast to Coast (two breakfasts for a tenner) is infinitely better.“

“Visited for breakfast on Saturday morning 19/08/17. Set over the 2nd and 3rd floors of the food court at Brighton Marina, the West Quay is a bright and airy spoons with a pub like (as opposed to shop conversion) interior and two large outside patio areas overlooking the marina. Service was prompt and friendly with a brisk trade for breakfast. 5 cask ales on with some local offerings from the likes of Bedlam, Dark Star and Dorking. The cask beers I had at 10 am were in decent shape. At a 25/30 minutes walk from the main pier this is not a go to destination bit certainly one of the more pleasant spoons I’ve visited.“

“Decent range of beers on keg and cask, including a stout and a mild on my visit. Decent selection of local and international craft beyond the usual spoons range. Mulled cider and a draught cider too. Wooden cathedral style carvings and long pews plus a real fire add a lot of character to this new build. Ticking over on a Monday afternoon, worth a look in if nearby“

“Considering the Brighton Marina isn’t exactly the most beautiful place to store boats given the massive concrete walls required to create a harbour on a coastline that offers no natural protection for marine vessels, this Wetherspoon is a flagship part of the chain, on the south coast at least. On a couple of levels it looks out over the various boats and yachts moored in the marina and there’s some nice decking to sit out on too. The real pleasure of this expansive building is the decoration and the nautical thought put into the design and artifacts on show is impressive. The usual set of menus and ale selections apply.“

“Ultra busy Wetherspoons in the Brighton Marina complex. Based on several layers with an outside seating area overlooking the marina. Very difficult to get served at times and the staff struggle to keep the tables clear. Some local beers within the hand pumps but also Coming Soon very prominent.“
