“First stop. Needed dinner. Chain place with a kind of a chain brewpub feel to it, but not bad. C-shaped bar sunken in the middle is a nice touch. Core beers and a seasonal or two on tap. I ordered the ESB, which was middle of the road. Service was very friendly - they must have a corporate policy of asking your first name and using it during your stay. 50% off all burgers on Monday nights made a pretty solid burger a really good deal. Recommended as an overall place, just don’t place the beer on a pedestal.“

“Only been to the Merrifield location before coming here, but it looks and performs pretty much the same. Just of off Route 28 south of I-66. Friendly service at the bar. Only five draft selections like Merrifield with two being their year round lighter staples. Available in pints, individual taster pours, or a full flight of five. Didn’t try the food but I would assume it’s identical in selection and quality to Merrifield. Okay stop if you happen to be passing by, otherwise I’d recommend this as a place to go mainly for the food with the beer as a complement.“

“Clone of the Merrifield location - spacious, lots of wood, sort of a Westerny motif. 5 of their beers on tap; had individual tasters of the two I had not yet tried before. Flight of all five is available, but always features 2 or 3 of their standard blah offerings. Did not try the food at this location.“

“This is a huge place. The service was excellent and fast. We had the Mahi Mahi and blue crab fritters. The Black IPA Midnight Rider was also good. The brewpub is easily located near RT 28. They exchange growlers and will not fill yours. Nice bar sunken in the floor.“

“Has the atmosphere of a Gordon Biersch with the beers to match. Better food than comparable restaurants and an eclectic variety.“

“Strikingly similar to the Merrifield location that I frequent. Large, open, with a bar in the middle. Busy as all get out, per usual.

Same availability as other locations, which means 3 rotating taps and the same two universal, year round options. Skip the Naked River. Why do they still make the light beer option if the unadventurous just end up buying Miller, Bud or mixed drinks? While most of the drinks sold were their own offerings, there were more macro beers being consumed than I’ve ever seen at either location I’ve been to.“

Pho Aura Cafe (Restaurant)
5037 WESTFIELDS BLVD
“You could drive by this place a hundred times and not give it a second glance. Pho Aura appears to be an unassuming storefront Vietnamese restaurant in a suburban strip mall. Walking inside you discover a charming, tastefully decorated space with tables and linens that belie its humble exterior. The food here is varied and excellent. The menu offers choices not found in other local Vietnamese restaurants. At first, the beer list looks humble--just the usual Asian macros. Then you notice the menu insert proudly listing a dozen or so top Belgian beers, some of which can be hard to find anywhere in the DC area. Pho Aura has by far the best selection of Belgian beers in the Centreville/Chantilly area. Definitely not I was expecting when I walked into a Vietnamese restaurant. All beers at Pho Aura are in bottles. Ask for them to pour the beer at your table if you want to look at the bottle. “

“Very similar to the other places, almost a clone. Food is the same. Slightly better choice of beers, but all served too cold Uberfriendly service. Most idiots around me were drinking bud or martinis.“

“This place was rather loud with country music on the Friday afternoon I visited. There were 5 house beers available, and the two I tried were solid offerings. I did not eat, but the menu is the same across their locations, and when I have eaten, it was average pub fare - nothing worth seeking out.“

“Sweetwater Centerville is a great restaurant with a limited selection of their beers on tap. On my last visit there were only 5 beers available on tap despite having a ton listed on the menu. Food and service on the other hand were excellent as always... just as I remembered when I lived in the area.“

“Visited here on 05/16/2009. Huge cavernous room with the bar centered in the pit in the middle. Service was quick and the food was tasty. Only one new beer here as I’ve been to the Sterling location before and nothing too fancy was on tap here. Certainly worth stopping by if you’ve not had anything from Sweetwater, though the samplers are a bit pricey at $8.“

“This place was much bigger than expected. Large and open, but with a cozy vibe as well. Service was professional and friendly. They offer a very amply sized sampler, which was nice. Food was slightly above average. Some of the beers were aimed towards the masses but they were overall well made and there was a standout or two. Prices are a little pricy.“

“I stopped in on a wednesday night after a long day on the road and getting accidentally stuck in Obama campaign rally traffic in Leesburg VA. This place is fairly big, with an indoor and outdoor bar. The ambiance is a cross between chain and chic, but is loud when crowded. The crowd is textbook suburbanite. I sat at the heated outdoor bar area. They had 5 beers on tap and offered samplers. The food looked and smelled very good, but I had already eaten. The beers were decent (except for the light lager, but that’s ok). This seems to be a popular place. Worth a stop if you in the area, especially if you like good food.“

“Imagine going to the first Chili’s ever and being impressed by the casual devil-may-care design scheme and decor. That is what Sweetwater was like for me. Certainly a Western themecomplete with barbed wire lamps, horses, and a whole lot of red, navy and beige. The food is quite good! I was quite pleased with the spinach artichoke dip, jambalaya pasta and apple cobbler crisp. The service was almost over-bearing glasses are refilled when they are 3/4 full! “

“I have to rate their beer as average. I haven’t tried the full range of their offerings but the lager and light beers are weak sisters and the pale ale lacks zest. My two experiences in this restaurant were dampened by extremely rude bar staff. The food and table wait staff were very good but the bar staff had me good and PO’d before we got to that point of the night. Why go into the hospitality business if you don’t like people?“

“This is one of my favorite places to eat and the beers on tap are usually quite good as well. If you have the chance to stop in, the chicken tenders are among the best I’ve ever had, and the Jambalaya pasta is pretty badass. They keep their light beer (Naked River) and pale ale on tap at all times, and rotate the other 3 beers. There is always one stout/porter and then two seasonals, some better than others. If you go on a weekday, I would highly, highly recommend drinking/eating at the bar with Neil as your bartender. He’s been with the company for years and never fails to give top-notch service (and a few complimentary samples!) Deal of the year is the High Desert Imperial Stout growlers for $10/refill when it’s in production.“

“This is one of my favorite restaurants, and luckily it is right across the street from me. The entrees are a bit pricey, but the burgers and sandwiches are pretty cheap and are amazing. The beers are very good, and they are always changing. I love to get the sampler they sell so I can get a taste of everything they have to offer. If you are ever in the area, drop by this restaurant for a beer and some awesome food. You might even meet Robert Duval, I have, its his favorite restaurant.“

“This is a great restaurant with a great brewery attached. Their house beer is great and if you don’t like that, there’s enough bottled beer to satisfy most people, in addition to the other drinks. The food is great, though moderately expensive. Their steaks and desserts are fantastic and their jambalaya is nice and spicy. The best thing is their 2 gallon growlers, you can buy one initially for $20 and refill it for about $7 after that.“

“Jan 2007 - I’d been to the Merrifield Sweetwater Tavern a long time ago and this place was exactly as I’d remembered the other ... interesting western motif with punched brass and indian blankets. What I didn’t remember from last time was the beer. This time I tried 3 of the hosue beers and was relatively impressed. All were well made if not the best beers I’ve had. The food was darn good and the service was almost annoyingly over-the-top efficient and friendly. Nice place.“

“The ambiance isn’t as stylish or lavish as the Sterling location and they don’t tend to have the same, great, seasonal beers on tap all the time. Otherwise, it’s a clone and a damn nice one. Terrific food. Good beer.“

“What makes a great brewpub? First and formost, the beer must be the star. That star shines bright at Sweetwater Tavern. You’ll find a vast array of beer styles being brewed on site, a set of standards, and many seasonal specialities. From pale ales, to bock beer, to hefeweizen, to IPA, to oatmeal stout, to weizenbock, to pilsner, to Imperial stout, to barleywine, you’ll find it at Sweetwater Tavern. Sweetwater pours an average of 6-7 different beer styles to suit a variety of tastes, and also pours their own root beer also brewed on site. For someone who loves craft beer, Sweetwater Tavern is a must visit. While beer is the star at Sweetwater, the food and atmosphere are also stellar. Sweetwater features Soutwestern fare with many interesting twists and turns along the way. From grilled "drunken" rib eye steaks, to barbecued ribs, to creative salads and pasta dishes, the food is always creative and delicious. Sweetwater also offers some decadent deserts, the flourless chocolate waffel is sinfully good. The atmosphere at Sweetwater is very comfortable with spacious booths, and a huge bar area set low and in the center of the restaurant. Sevice at Sweetwater is very good, the staff, smart and friendly. “

“Place was very, very busy when I got there, good thing I was with a fairly large crowd & we had made a reservation in advance, so we were seated very quickly, nice ambiance inside, well decorated, lots of room for seating, nice sized bar, they only had five beers on draft, which was very disappointing, the quality of those beers was average at best, the pale ale probably being the best of the group, although the Crazy Jackass Ale was pretty decent in its own right, the menu for lunch was pretty small, only a few sandwiches to choose from, I ended up with the Hickory BBQ burger, it was very delicious but small in size, considerably smaller than in most other resturants, french fries were very good though, the service was top-notch, very friendly and attentive wait staff, overall a pretty good experience “

“Essentially an identical experience to the other Sweetwater Taverns. The brewer is different and as such the tap list varies from the other locations. IMO, the beers at the Merrifield location are typically a step ahead of the other locations. See my review under Sweetwater-Merrifield for more details.“
